I was just wondering if someone could point out where to solder the + and - wires on the motor in the picture. I am a complete idiot when it comes to electric, so please bear with me.

I almost forgot, could someone also perhaps tell me what the winding is on this motor? It's a Speed Gems 2 with a bright yellow can.

Speed Gems 2 with yellow can? I think that's a 9x1 or 17x2 "Amethyst" (sp?)? I remember looking at that motor (or one of the other Speed Gems 2s) for a bolink project...:D I never did it though.
Anyways, see those extra sets of screws? Those are for brushes with eyelets (which is what the speed gems use). If you want to directly solder, just remove the screws and solder them in that general vicinity. You could also try soldering them to the opposite solder tab that the motor wires are not attached to. It's up to you.

solder the positive wire to the side of the endbell with the "+" sign, and the negative to the unmarked side.
MrCrash

ok. I'll have to remember that when I replace the brushes.
EDIT: Thanks EVST 360. Hopefully I can get it wires up and working now.

You would solder the wires there, as labelled. Those tabs by the brush eyelet/spring post area are made specifically for soldering wires onto ;)
Hope that helps :)
Dave
**Edit** You beat me to it :p

ok. Just to clarify, which tabs are the tabs the motor wires are soldered to?
On either side of the endbell brush hoods, do you see those tabs sticking straight up (one is by the brush springs, the other by the phillips head screw). Those tabs are for wires.
I didn't realize you wanted to know which side is + and which is -. Oops..:D

You won't be able to properly gear that in a 'Pede if that's what you're using it in...

I think you need some SUN your looking a bit grey. :D

Thanks for the picture of the ad :) It came with the pede, and the previous owner said it ran great. I'll probably just throw it in and see what happens. I have nothing to lose, cause the motor is pretty rough as it is.

Your T3 might have some troubles once I sell my LST (Mamba Maxx ESC w/ Feigao 380C-6L, and either some GP3900s or a LiPo pack :D).
BTW, I heard they are doing stadium truck racing at Larry's now. Do you ever run up there?

The Points racing starts this sunday so go practice.(Tuesday and Sat are practice and Sunday is Racing.)
As for batts I would reccomend the Orion Carbon Li-Po and the Triton 2 or Ice charger.
:driving: I guess my Only hope is that your Pede flips over.lol (Unless  Well I wont spoil the suprise hehe)
MrCrash
02-06-2007, 12:26 AM
I'm planning on getting the Ice for sure, and the lipo battery will most likely be a MaxAmps 6000HV 2S2P 7.4V Pack :D
I wish I could practice tomorrow. I'm heading up there to get the stuff I need to get it running, and then I need to run home and finish a paper for school. I ordered a couple stock motors, so if they arrive before Sunday, I'm gonna throw one in, and go show of my skills at the track :p

If you want to you can borrow my Trinity Monster HP Stock. I need to put my brushless in anyways. :flame: (Oops  I didnt say Brushless... Hehe) Ill be at my grandmas on thursday so Ill bring it over for ya.
BTW your gonna need some skills for sure...(Lots of good driver's) Dont feel bad when the little kids laugh because their passing you with Xmods. ROFL
When I was there on Saturday there was about 50 people and only 2 had Rusty's and one had a Pede.lol
MrCrash
02-06-2007, 01:09 AM
I heard nothing ;)
That's really nice of you to let me borrow that motor. Does it need to be hard-wired, or are there connectors on it?
Linkster
02-06-2007, 01:11 AM
No biggie... Lol my friend let me borrow his E-Maxx and I broke it twice.lol
It needs to be hard wired but I have some connectors in my Box from the ESC so it just needs some wire.
BTW Dont b worried... Its just an Undisclosed Novak system. :D
[EDIT] NVM the connectors wont work. :(
When I get my XXX-T ill let you borrow my T3 if you want. (I got tons of spares for the T3)
MrCrash
02-06-2007, 01:20 AM
Just so I make sure to grab the right connectors tomorrow, what connector will you be using?
Are you going for a super-sonic T3 :p
EDIT: That's ok. I'm thinking of grabbing some tailed Deans connectors for the motors, so I'll just throw a set on there for now if I get them.
Linkster
02-06-2007, 01:21 AM
Nah ill pass on the supersonic ness... Chewie has a GTB 3.5r runnin matched packs in his T3. I have the SS+ 13.5 :( (I traded the clod for it.)
BTW DEANS ROCK!!!! lol I run them on all my r/c's
MrCrash
02-06-2007, 01:25 AM
Sweet! That'll be fun in the T3.
Deans are nice! The stampede I bought was converted over to all Deans :D

02-06-2007, 01:27 AM
Cool... How did you find it sooooo cheap? lol
Now I have to find my brother a Pede cuz he wants a Bullet Proof R/C. lol
[EDIT] Crap its late... I should go 2 bed soon.lol
MrCrash

A friend of mine had it in his basement. I was over his house, and saw it in the corner. I made an offer, and the rest is history.

02-06-2007, 01:32 AM
Awesome!!! You cant ever get any better than basement finds. lol
I found an R/C plane in my garage when I was 9 and I still have it. (My dad won it) Its a Hangar 9 Easy Fly 40 but... its got a broken tail. :(
I think it was purchased at RJ's. (Darn RJ's was da best.lol)
MrCrash
02-06-2007, 01:40 AM
You should fix it up, and get it in the air!
Linkster
02-06-2007, 01:42 AM
I was thinking about it but the piston is rusted out and I dont wanna spend all the money for a rebuild or an electric conversion.
But my dad wants to buy a Slinger or a Mini Slinger. :)
BTW Im going to bed...

Awesome :D I have a single NiMh pack I would like to try out as well.
Linkster
02-07-2007, 08:05 PM
Cool!!!
The only bad thing is my charger can only go to 5Amp's. :( But its enough power for now. :flame: (I know ppl that charge their race packs at 10 amps.lol)
BTW Do you have a soldering iron thats over 30 watts? (My matched IB3800 pack needs to be reassembled.)
MrCrash
02-07-2007, 08:13 PM
Yeah. I think it's a 40 watt iron.
Linkster
02-07-2007, 08:18 PM
Ok cool Ill bring my IB3800 over if I can borrow it. :D
If you need to borrow any other R/C stuff let me know... I got lots of it.lol
Also would you like me to bring over a certain R/C to show off?
Thanks, James
BTW if you want to talk im on AIM.
MrCrash
02-07-2007, 08:26 PM
Sure! I'll be home a little after 1pm. Hopefully I'll have the Pede up and running perfectly by then. It's getting a new radio right now :D
Linkster
02-07-2007, 08:33 PM
Awesome!!! I cant wait to see the pede!
I should be there till about 6:00 but im not sure.
BTW if you need to use a Dremel I got one for my bday and want to use it really bad. :flame: (There needs to be a smiley with a chain saw :D )
MrCrash
02-08-2007, 03:06 AM
And I can't wait to see that certain r/c ;)
BTW, I wired up this motor, and it seems pretty anemic. My Venom Fireball packs more of a punch, but I think it doesn't spin quite as fast. Looks like it's gonna be set aside for some random project later on :)

Its a Kyosho MP777 with the Mugen MSR truggy conversion and tons of hopups... that I plan to make electric. :driving: (EVX, Titan's and some Ni-Mh packs)

02-08-2007, 11:24 PM

Hopefully ill be able to make it up there on sunday... but Im not sure what my mom has planned.
And you better be ready to get your butt kicked by little kids.lol
[EDIT] I just found out that Chewie will be racing on sunday!!!!!!! WooHoo!!!!!
MrCrash
02-09-2007, 12:00 AM
I'm sure I'm gonna get whomped by those darn kids ;)
Linkster
02-09-2007, 12:23 AM
Well im talking to Chewie and he says he can make a Pede into a great racer with some quick mods. Some T3 a-arms and some T3 turnbuckels he said is all ya need... I allready have some spare a-arms so all that is needed are some turnbuckles.lol
BTW Tell RCHSavage21 that Chewie is going racing on sunday.
MrCrash
02-09-2007, 01:19 AM
Will the T3 arms bolt up? I've been planning on doing a wide-arm conversion, as well as adding turnbuckles in place of the solid links.
BTW, I slammed the suspension, bolted up the street tires, and mounted the battery under the chassis :D I should be pretty well set for sunday
Linkster
02-09-2007, 09:32 AM
I think the T3 arms are a direct replacement but im not sure.
And just to make sure you know Stadium has jumps and stuff so a slammed suspension might not be the best. :driving:
MrCrash
02-09-2007, 12:30 PM
Hmm...carpet racing with jumps. Interesting. The suspension arms are level with the chassis, and the shocks are pretty stiff, so I might be ok. If not, 5 seconds with a wire cutter, and it's back to normal.
Linkster
02-09-2007, 07:26 PM
Ok... I cant wait to race!
I have not driven offroad in a while... and I never even run my T3.lol
BTW I found out that the guy is selling the truggy (http://www.truggyracers.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=10751&hl=777+msr) for $350. Is it a good trade for my revo? (Im not sure how much I can get for it)
MrCrash
02-10-2007, 12:05 AM
It seems like a pretty nice roller. I can't really say what all that is worth, since I don't pay much attention to truggies. It would probably be an excellent racer, in either nitro or electric form :)
Linkster
02-10-2007, 12:36 AM
I just found out he is now throwing in a Sirio .27 10 Port Pro. and instead of having the clutch Im getting a HS-985MG. :D
If its ok with my mom ill be trading on Sunday. :driving:
BTW its fun making your thread totaly off topic.lol
MrCrash
02-10-2007, 01:42 AM
Very nice! That's definitely a great deal!
Linkster
02-10-2007, 09:57 AM
Yup :D
I found out that racing starts at 10:30 (In the morning) Since there wont be much time for practice Chewie will be up there all day today and I may also show up. :driving:
