View Full Version : What do you use to remove anodized paint?

Basically what is said in the title... I want to remove the fading blue anodized paint off my shock towers,

if it is anodize, take a baking sheet, cover it with tin foil, put the parts on &throw it in an oven at 400 degrees for ten minutes. take 'em out, spray ez off(yellow can) oven cleaner on ,let 'em soak rinse & repeat. then clean the crust with a brass brush& you're good to go.

You can skip the step of heating them in the oven.

Also, I like to put them in a zip lock bag and then spray the ez off in the bag.. It slows down the evaporation.

What they said. It's worked for me before alright but I couldn't get it to be flawless. I still had some little spots of anodizing that wouldn't come off..

i couldnt find any oven cleaner so i used a grinder thingy to scrape it off... came out really shiny but a little scuffed... im satisfied. but next time i need to strip someting ill remember to get some oven cleaner.. thanks guys
