P2k, Can't be beat for overall power, flexable gearing, & more importantly proven duability.

Much agreed. The P2K. I owned one, and it lasted a long time, no matter how I abused it, and gearing was no problem at all. I'd get the pro version, if your willing to spend the extra few bucks.

I just got a P2K to race the stock class with. I love it, it has plenty of power on tap, and the gearing like they said is very flexible. make sure if decide to get one, that you look at the sticker on the back for the dyno numbers

like mine had the highest at my LHS, but I'm sure there are some that dyno'd better. this is what mine looks like.

rpm 27.669
power 127.4W
Eff 72.2%
Torq 184Nmm

anyone know what the range for them is to use as a benchmark??? thanks, later all

what does the pro version do, is it worth getting if I only have the super hornet, i don't think i can make any adjustments to the gears

You're right, WW. If you don't want to spend more money, just get a regular P2K. All it has is an extra sticker with dyno #s on it anyway...

Actually, as much as I like my MVP's, I don't think I'm ready to recommend them to everyone & their dog just yet. It's taken a lot of dyno work to get mine to run the way I want(though it has turned into a real stump puller, it's even beating my P2K's for power & revving higher), & even their Pro versions aren't quite looking as good as I think they should.. Eventually, I think we'll all figure out how to get everything we want out of them, but it's touch & go right now, so for those who want a motor that's easy to live with the P2K is still the way to go..... :)

Oh, & rc51racerx, those numbers are pretty good for a P2K, especially the torque, though I have seen higher rpm & power numbers.... :)

Why can't you make adjustments to the gears? The Hornet has a tranny with a spur/pinion combo like every other car. You might also try the Reedy MVP.

DIGEX,
CHECK OUT THE TOPIC THAT SAYS NEW ENGINE FOR TAMIYA SUPER HORNET. I'VE BEEN TOLD THE GEARS CAN'T BE CHANGED.
