I'm about to buy some good 2400's that I'll only use at big meetings but am wondering what company/s make the best 2400s that will give best performance in stock racing. Money wont be a problem but just need to know what cells give highest voltage and punch plus low resistance. ;)

I'd go with Sanyo cells, and matched by Trinity. I'd at least stick with Sanyo, whether or not they are matched, and no matter by whom. :p

Try to get your LHS to order you some SMC cells. You cannot buy them direct, so your lhs will have to get with a distributor for SMC.
SMC cells their pack based on the numbers. With some other mathcers, they only sell "TEAM" packs, and you will not know what numbers you are getting until they arrive. With SMC, you just order what numbers you want, and they are priced accordingly.
SMC can usually fill orders on 1.12v+, 275+sec 2400 pack pretty quickly. Your LHS should be able to get them for you ar around $75-80. Check this link for more info. www.smc-racing.com (http://www.smc-racing.com)
I'll also through in the fact that SMC has a race team that includes multiple-time national champs Brian Dunbar and Paul Lemieux. They win national titles on SMC cells.

Check them out. :D

Oi Aussieman,
Assuming you are in OZ, then I suggest you forget the above prices, they are all US suppliers and you know the state of our $. I got myself some Team Orion 1.12+ 272sec cells for AUS$108 (US$54). They're cheap coz they come from Switzerland (better exchange rate).

Aussieman, If Zubac is right about the exchange rate, you can't go wrong with the Orions. Orion sells more nicads than anyone in the world, lots of industrial aplications etc. We've had real good luck with ours & we've tried quite a few brands. None have performed better or lasted as long. We bought 7 high end Orion packs 2 years ago & they still perform like new. When they run out they dump all at once, still matched well. Just my $.02. Good luck.

I have to agree with Zubac and Railman, Team Orion batts are great. I get them here in Japan and the racers swear by them.

Zubac, where in Australia ya from? I race 2wd 540 and want 3 REALLY good packs that I will only use at state titles, nationals and cups and stuff like that. SMC are Fantom arent they? Fantom is what I'd realy like to get (I already have 1 of their Killer Voltv packs that I'm trying out).

You could try either www.promatchracing.com (http://www.promatchracing.com) or www.intergy.com (http://www.intergy.com) They both have great prices on 2400 matched cells.

See if you can get some B&T cells (they are in NC). That's all I use. They have the best numbers I have found, and are much cheaper than Trinity and Integy.

I know where you can find cells witha 1.17 voltage!!! go to www.speedtechrc.com. (http://www.speedtechrc.com.) They are only 40 bucks too!!!! they are integy matched 2400's

Losiman-
Cells matched at a 30 amp discharge rate are considered to have good voltage if they are above 1.12v per cell. At a 20A rate, 1.17v is good.
By the way Integy's number cannot be compared to any other matcher's numbers. Integy does not use the industry standard matching technique. A 1.18 cell from Integy is the equivalent of a 1.155-1.16 cell from any other matcher.
That is why they are so cheap. Rememeber what Mom always said, "You get what you pay for!"

SMC matches the Fantom cells that you would be buying. Fantom does still match some cells for it's own use primarily, and then they put the overrun into the supply from SMC.

OvalMan, Most of the Pro-Match packs are rated with a 4.5 or 5.0 Amp charge rate, with a 30A Disc.
I run Reedy World Class Zapper's. 1.133V@4Acharge w/ 27A Disch. These cells are excellent!

XXXer - I have heard good things about those, but why do they discharge at 27 amps? Just means that you cannot compare their numbers to anyone else.
Just a pet peeve of mine.

I do not know either, but i DO know that Mike Reedy can make some awesome modifieds! So his batteries are probably great too!

I heard that the 2400 batteries pack more punch than the 3000's. why iz that? i dont know much about batteries but im getting a 2400 pack and a 3000.

Nicads have more 'oomph' (punch) than NiMH's.

I read on here a while back that the highest NiCd number was 2400, but I saw somewhere, racking my brain to remember, some trinity NiCd's that were 3000. I got a little bit confused and thought surely they must be NiMH, but I thought I would post it on here and see what you guys come up with as well. I'll try to find where it was written.
later all

The new Stock Metal Hydrides will be the ones to pick up after the Nicad banning, which will not be for a loooooong time. 1700's are the best to get for stock class if you can, they have by far the most punch out of all batteries, 2000's are awesome also.
At the April Fool's Classic here, i talked to Matt Francis, and he let me take a look at his SMH's and they have the same numbers voltage wise, and i think that the IR was really low, like 18 or something, but he said that they are nothing like the first gen 3000's. Much better, and no voltage dropping

No, 2400mah is the highest capacity available in a sub-C size NiCd, though NiMh's have 3000mah. The only way right now to have more capacity in a NiCd is to use a bigger cell, but a few more years down the road, maybe it'll be possible in a sub-C..... :)
