Im just wondering this because i know people who become real racing drivers like in Formula 2 or Formula 3000 or even the smaller types of vehicles im sure their trying to be world famous, or more precisely world champs of the best championships they can attend.

I also know there are plenty of serious racers out there, and i was wondering whether any of you have ever wanted to the top? I dont mean World Champions and all but attend the Nationals or even World Championships...
I would like to be very good and go National but its not really something i think i can reach at all, i practice and i race but i have no idea where im gonna get to, I just sometimes wish when im looking at IFMAR buggy worlds and ROAR nationals sometimes that id like to be there competing and being part of a serious 4 day racing event... wouldnt u?

Nope.:) Racing isn't for me.

If you really want something, then strive for it. Even if you can't get it, you'll still become better in the process of trying to "achieve the unachievable", no?

I leave you with this:
"Let your reach exceed your grasp; else what is a heaven for?" -Author Unknown (dunno who! good quote none-the-less)

I have never raced but i have always wanted to try and see how good of a driver i am at that and see how far i could go. Im good at avoiding trees and big rocks but that is a little different.

I was sponserd for freestyle bmx a couple yrs. back until I quit...rampage,standar bykes, good times, healthy habbits all sponserd me it was nice getting free crap all the time but it got over whelming and I quit for being sponsered for the most part, it took the "fun" out of riding and became a second job.

I have had the local track owner wanna "sponser" me but I had to shoot him down as it takes the fun away from it for me maybe down the road when money is "tight" I would look into sponsership but for now its all in fun and having to pay my own bills although one local track does give me parts at there price which is good enough for me...

Well I have raced for many many years , never really wanted to be world famous tho.. I do consider myself quite skilled when it comes to driving. well that was until I raced at the Electric Offroad Nationals 2 years ago..

I won't name any names here, but I've got a personal perspective on a "world famous" r/c driver. When I was 19 and this guy was 12, we raced at the same track. He raced 2 - 3 times a week and I raced once a month. Guess who was better? His Dad was one of those stereotypical track Dads who was either yelling at his kid, a corner marshall, shop owner, etc... at all times. I felt sorry for this kid and thought he'd get out of the hobby ASAP because his Dad was such a jerk and put so much pressure on him to win.

10 years later, he's a world class professional r/c driver. As much as I'd love to have his job, I would have refused to make the same sacrifices that he made to get where he is today. R/C racing is like many sports in that you have to give up a large chunk of the most fun years of your life to be really successful. No thanks. Maybe if r/c pro drivers got paid as much as major league baseball players, I'd think about it...

Hey, I was chatting with a mechanical contractor a few months back and he saw that i race rc, after talk of advertisment on the body and Tent with the companys name on it i picked up a HVAC contractor for a sponsor. They sent out a check and all to get me started. First race is in two weeks at Motarama in Harrisburg Pa. I also own a lawn service co. that will appear on the other body. My wife was at the pizza shop and mention it to the owner that i was looking for sponsors and he said come down to talk with him. He already has a go-cart team up on the wall with pictures and all. I think many more co. would do the same you have to approach them with some ideas and some pictures.

Good luck.

I am no where near the level as some of the top drives (no where near it) but I attended the Nationals a couple years back for Stock electric. It was being hosted at my local track, all I had to do was pay the entry fee and I was in. Now where I placed thats a different story, but it was an experiance to be near all those great drivers, who would help out anyone who asked.

yeah its pretty easy to get "small time" sponsers...I used to work a a diff. car dealership a couple yrs back, and he "sponsered" me I had his name on my body and he paid for my r/c fuel, my real car gas to get to the races, entry fee etc etc etc...all in all he spent maybe 200-250 a mth on me, and a few shirts with the dealerships name on it hey better then gets nitro and grease all over my own shirts :D and it wasnt a normal sponser where he would get mad if I didnt winm he was just happy to help me out and have his name being sported...

I mean im not aiming for being World Famous, but if i ever somehow got a sponsor i would think about being better... And also if i ever manage to get the skills i might consider going pro.. but Ghosface is right, im not gonna go out of my way to become a Pro...

nice to hear that some people actually have sponsors...

I actually have a sticker of my dads company on my car because he pays alot of things for me and helps me out alot and i appreciate it, so i consider my dad my sponsor in a way,, http://www.snapcom.it

Ever watch any of the vids of the IFMAR A-mains over at the Team Orion website? Holy Guacamole... if you can watch those and think you've got a chance and being top dog, you should go for it.
