I purchased a Hacker Brushless Motor X-20, however when I hook everything up and run the motor up it gets VERY hot, and gives off a hot electrical smell. Is this normal? Its on an airplane. I'm new to electric flight, (this is my first) but I'm not new to RC airplanes.

Thanks for the help,
SLB

Hi SLB, Welcome to the wonderful world of mess free flying :D . What ESC/BATT combo are you using? What is the discharge rating of your batt? I recently went through this when I bought a batt that had only a 6c discharge rating, pack became very warm and so did my esc and motor. The motor needed a pack with at least a 15c rating. Not sure if you are using li-po. I am fairly new to brushless and li-po and am in the process of converting my last plane to brushless. There are some people here that are extremely knowledgeable that can help you more than I can so be patient and pay close attention to what you read from them. Happy (electric) flying

Motor - A20 22L
ESC - X20
Prop - 10x4.7slo
Battery - Thunder Power 3s-1320

I tried using a different motor and it ran fine. I am begininning to think that the motor is bad even though it is new.

Thanks for the help.
