View Full Version : Jerks at the track?

How do you usually handle them?
I went to the track today with my girlfriend's 9 year old son and our two Mini-LSTs. As soon as we get there some jerky kid, about 6 or so, starts busting my girlfriend's kid's balls about how "your car is too small to run here" and a bunch of other crap. My boy ignores him but comes up to me and tells me what the other kid said.
Awhile later, my boy is up on the stand driving and I'm driving from the ground to be able to flip the cars. When we stop to change batteries, it turns out this kid plus two others he was with just kept on with the "your little pice of ***** sucks" (yes, a 6 year old said "piece of *****"). Turns out the father was standing right there the whole time listening to this nonsense.
The jerky kid was driving some big battery monster truck and the dad was driving a Revo. Neither one could drive to save their lives and my boy and I were both beating them around the track because neither of them could keep control of their monster trucks. For me, that was revenge enough, but they more or less ruined a perfectly good afternoon at the track for my girlfriend's son.
It was also enteraining to see that nobody on the track would flip the cars for this moron and his spawn once they saw their crazy driving. Their cars would just sit there on their backs and spin their wheels until one of them came down from the stand to flip it themselves. Everyone else was being real friendly and doing a great job of helping each other out. More payback.
How do you normally handle situations like this? I'm not used to hobbies where I have to deal with little kids, let alone jerk-off dads that are even worse.

I dealt with that before, i just keyed the guys truck. Felt good enough for me.

That is perfect karma for this sad individual, AND his son. It is so sad to see parenting like that fall by the wayside, allowing a toddler to curse in such a way. I'm sure they were both cussing up a storm, having to marshal their own vehicles. LOL That' would've been great to see. My wife (liscensed social worker) would make a fortune off of that family. :D
While on the topic,...if you're this type of individual, you are NOT welcome to Bashfest 2007 in Harrison,MI. ;)
try to ignore them and hope they break their trucks. they also seem to appear every now and then. they always think they can drive. hopefully next time you go, they are not there.
they paid for track time also. most likely the others new who they were and the better drivers were hacking them. thats way they couldn't finish a lap.

It's a free public track. The only way they paid for track time was with their taxes. Wait, 6 year olds don't pay taxes ;)

You're joking, right?
wow, a free track. that means no one is there monitor whats going on ?
i would consider looking for another track. during the summer it must get packed with alot of kids hacking each other.

get a 1/6 scale truck and run theirs over :)
really the way i found to deal with people like this is first ignore them then if that dosent work tell the owner or something. looks like u guys handled it well. i have never had the privilege of racecing on a track with no one else but my cousin Mrcrash. so hopefully if i can get to bashfest that can change :)

I would have confronted the father of the bratty kid. Just politely ask him to have his kid not harass you G/F son. Being respectful/ polite can usually go a long way, ignoring things like this can ruin it for you and others that dont have the kahunas to stand up for whats right.

I've had my own experience with a track Idiot.
While racing last fall, my wife was acting as my pit person. Well we started the warm up laps before the start of the main and as my wife stepped across the track to the starting gate she got nailed by one of the other drivers. Mind you, my wife did not jump out into the middle of the track, she was in a group of 11 other people getting ready to put the buggies on the gate for the main.
Well I never saw a thing because I was focused on my own driving, and I didn't learn about nay of it until later. After the race, the guy took off, not an apology or a concern about whether or not he had hurt my wife. Well the wife had one hell of a bruise on her leg and now sh no longer wants to help me at the track because of it.
I have since learned that the guy is know for being a jerk around the track.
Oh well, i guess i'll just have to wait to get close to him on the track.

If I wasn't with the boy I would have done exactly that. My experience with these Boca people, however, is that they will get real pissy real quick if you even so much as hint that they don't know how to raise their kids.
Withoug the boy, I wouldn't likely have had the problem, but if I had I most definately would have asked the father to control his kid.

my son and I quit racing at the LHS because of jerks, some owner/operators and hard core racers of tracks are arogent(S/P). I Feel some people take things to seriously at the track! To those I say, "Lighten up, it ain't a real race your not going to die if you lose!"

If Im out at the track, and see a kid racing and no one to turn-marshall (dads wrenching or also driving) I then like to act as a turn-marshal for a while if I need a break from driving or wrenching. Help make this sport as family friendly as one can! Driving is only so much fun in life, helping someone else out brings much greater rewards. Look at some of the pros (Adam Drake and whoever else) They try to help the little guy too, and thats probably a big consideration in a sponsorship. No one likes promoting jerks.

Just be glad you won't be his school teacher next year.
You could always turn to the dad and say; was it you or your wife that taught him to talk that way ? LOL.

Well rob_s, you have to wonder where the kid learned that language, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
There's no right answer here, if you do anything retaliatory at all you're no better than they are. The thing you have to think about is setting an example. You can bet your G.F.'s son learned a lot about dealing with jerks by whatever reaction you had.
If the big kids can't grow up and play nice - I just pack it in and go home. It's no longer fun at that point.

that's when you break out the BB Monster to run them over.. jk it really gives the hobby a bad name when people act like that.. best just to ignore them. Well I race alot and no matter what their are always people that take racing to serious.. It's a Hobby to have Fun and for me it relieves stress.. %$&#@@$& LOL

Just wear some biga$$ hiking boots next time you go to the track. The first time the little brat's MT flips over, calmly walk over to it and lift your leg as if you're going to stomp it and look at the kid and say, "Are you gonna stop acting like a jerk, or do you want me to make your widdle twuckie go bye-bye?"

It's funny, I remember from my early days of RC in North Florida that everyone was helpful and fun to be around. These Boca Raton (Florida) people are just as nasty and disagreable at the track as they are everywhere else.
Oh well. If all goes well I'll have a nice little 1.25 acres in the next year or so and I won't have to drive with anyone I don't want to.

I would assume they were too cheap to run a spektrum system, and have someone flip a radio on and off a bit when they were out driving on their frequency..... :D
I bet I could make a tiny little transmitter out of some junk parts, and cycle threw the channels on a dial, while in my jacket pocket :D (just to single out the offending driver)
Or more PC is to just report the behavior to the track owners\operators....
just bust in when the kid starts talking about your sons truck and start cussin out his monster truck, then when the father comes in,say "well then teach your kid to be respectfull ****** and punch him in the face if youre a man.

Yeah i would just keep doing what your doing and ignore them and provide no assistance to their vehicles, also you should try and inform the other nice guys at the track about whats going on and maybe get together and have a chat with that guy, nothing horrible just a good chat.

This is the first, and hopefully last, time we've run into these guys there. Not surprisingly they didn't put the clothespin on the chanel board either so I don't know what frequency they're at.
I love the idea about the secret transmitter in the pocket. I might just have to try that one.

That's a tough situation since you're not the Dad. If you were the Dad, I'd say it would be a good opportunity to teach your "son" how to deal with bullies. If ignoring them doesn't work, shaming them is the next best thing. He could have challenged this bully to a race and then beat him with his mini. Now that's a good shaming!

no i wasnt kidding, i walked past the side of the guys truck and drug my key from one end of his truck bed to the other. He shouldnt have been a complete ass to me like he was. I see him every now and then if he trys to say anything to me again im just going to plant some drugs on his truck and call it in. I dont like people like that.

yeah a busted taillight or missing registration stcker should at least get em pulled over, maybe even after they have been drinking.if they were that big of a jerk, you might not even need to plant the drugss!
wouldnt a synthesized radio work for that scrambler idea?like my dad always says:stupid dont know it's stupid.

Yoo lmao, YUp ignore them..
I was in a situation where dudez are running MT, Truggies, Buggies, and my little 1/10th nitro buggy.
Some freggin kid is hopping on the track. People yell at hill to get off cuz u could break a leg by getting hit with a 25mph+ savage. LOL i was DIEING it was way to funny.
OO lmao, it sucked when people blast past my car, but there SO friendly. My car would flip over and stuff, people would stop their cars to let me run across the track and flip my car. Even if im on the other side, they would show respect.
That really ROX dude!

I vote for the transmitter as well.
The worst I've every had to race with was a little german kid with a Revo 3.3 (I'm 80 times better the driver than this kid, and he's racing a Revo?)
His dad is turning wrenches, with a cigarette in one hand and a bottle of 33% nitro in the other. He sticks his kid's REVO on the track and tries to start it. Now, I'm turning pretty fast laps and I'm flying by that section, so I play nice and ease off the gas and go through at about 3-4 mph.
After chasing the car down the straight with the EZ-start, he gets it running. The kis has no concept of getting on the gas lightly, so he powers into the pipes. He then highsides on the pipes, and nails the gas to get the tires to baloon enough to touch ground. He then flips it off of every other jump, into my driving lane. I never hit him, but i flipped my car a few times trying not to hit his. Not oncee did I get an appology (and the kid might've cussed me out in German for all I know, because he never shut up.:D
Sincec then, every time we see someone new at the track, we have a good ol' time, even if they race a T-maxx and we run Evaders and a Vendetta.

I BLAME TODAYS MUSIC AND MODERN CULTER FOR THE SWEARING IN THE LITTLE KIDS. Its not right.... Got a little storie of my own. When I was in grade 7 ( last year) 2 friends and I were running around a feild at my school to warm up our legs, and there are 7 grade 3 or 4's playing soccer and we dont realy mind and we ceep going. Into the sec lap we are passing some of them and all of a sudden kick a Ball at us, and starts to Cuss realy loud, like yelling, and mocking us.... Now that isnt right, grade 3 or 4's about 5" making fun of grade 7's that are 5.5", 5.7", 5.9". We just ceep running becasue we know that they are little kids thinking that they are " oh so gangster" and we see that their aim is Horrible so they would never hit us anyways. We reported them anyways, they got 2 week detention for swearing, and 1 week for Not respecting their Elders. Never looked, talked, been around us again.. So for the jerks at the track.... Ignore, gets worse Just report them... Nothing?? Scramble their radio and the truck " incodently" runs into a wall.

another thing that REALLY gets to me is when ppl. park in the parking lots like right next to the yellow line I hate it with a passion!! OR when they take up two parking spots if they park too close the the driver side yellow line and I dont have a passanger I get right up next to there door with my passenger side (to were they cant get in to it) then they have to crawl through the passenger door :) or if they park really close or outside of the line in the passanger side and if im driving my work car (96 ford aspire) I whack there door and give them a nice ding :D because its no ones fault in a parking lot so you cant sue or get in trouble as its 50/50 fault...so rember me when you are being a jack off and dont park in the middle of the yellow lines in a parking lot becuase I may be there and I will put a nice dent in ur door or make it a pain for u to get into your drivers side door :D
trust me I have had PLENTY of "kick ass" cars that I dont want scrathed/dented and what not so does that mean I take up two parking spots up by the front of the store/building? NO, I park WAAAAAYYYYYY far away from ALL the other cars so nothing happens to my car and then I park directly in between the yellow lines... it isnt hard to do so dont be lazy and you wont have any problems!

That's exactly what we do at stores, but we drive PT cruisers and a magnum. Then i go to school and listen to people whining about getting a bad parking spot or getting a ding because they wanted to park close to the store.
Down south, it's a sport to park close to the entrance. It's gotten so bad that people will wait behind someone for to minutes while they load their stuff into a car. One guy did that to us once and we just sat in the car for 15 minutes, while he honked and *******.
