We have a local track, very informal. Owned by a construction company that built it just for local guys to "Bash and Jump", so sayeth the sign anyway. Well I've been going there for a few months now and it turns out they are making some changes, which is fine. BUT, one of the guys who basically lives there has stated that we had a confrontation, and is evidently trying to get me banned from coming to the track.
I do not know this guy from Adam. The only thing I do know about him is he brings his annoying dog to the track, and this dog lives to chase anything that moves. We have never spoken, although his dog did grab my new Jato by the back wheel(I held my tongue) and last weekend his dog grabbed my new Baja 5b and broke the antenna tube(again....I held my tongue).
I am a supervisor at our LHS part time, so I know 90% of the guys that show up at the track, and being there and hanging out with them is most of the fun. What would you do?

Electrify your chassis with a good 12v battery, so when he bites it he gets a nice good shock.

"accidently" run into the dog , say you lost control, maybe his dog would get scared of moving objects

walk over, very nicely, and hand him an itemized bill for repairs. When he asks what it is, simply tell him the dog is his responsibility, and he is held accountable for his dogs actions.

If he refuses, or gets irrate, just let it go....but make it a point to explain to EVERY one else there, what is going on.
If he isnt a tool about it, maybe he will leave rover home.

this could be happening to more than jsut you, but chances are, no one else has stepped to the plate. The squeaky wheel always gets oiled first!

the dog is suppose to be on the leesh. (sp?) If that dog had no leesh, it would have been impounded right away in my area.

If that dog is chasing your cars, then he's chasing most, if not all. Talk to the people he is talking to. Tell them what is going on. Tlak to those that come into the lhs. They probably don't like the dog there either. Maybe they would lodge a complaint too. Yhe first time that dog would have grabbed one of my cars, I would have said something to that guy. The next time, I would have started chasing the dog with my Baja.

first off leave the dog out of it. its not his fault his owners an idiot. second, find other guys that are having or have had problems with this jack hole and team up on him. crash into him, break his stuff if you have to. "op's, my bad dude, my breaks don't work", know what i mean? if he wants to get physical good. other guys have your back, nothing like a 5 on 1 fight in your favor. ruff him up. let him know he aint the alfa male.

Show up in a pink Tutu and tell him, STOP please!!! JK I think that no matter where you go, there will be confrontational opportunities. Take the time to realize that they guy has nothing better than to pick someone to have a problem with. When you acknowledge that you are the one he has problems with, you've let him win. Don't let him win. Walk the other way, walk the other way, walk the other way, walk the other way, walk the other way, and soon he will get tired of playing with you because you don't give him the adrenaline rush he is looking for.

Or you can politely ask him to leave. This sport doesn't exactly reek of testosterone. I was joking with the dog thing, and would rather just ask him to leave rather than get physical, because that usually leads to police involvement.

I say just talk to all your buds at the track about this, and see what they say. If you can get a majority of the people on your side, he's SOL.;)

To anyone that mentioned things that involved hurting the dog, you all are a bunch of freaking morons! Why harm the pet, its the OWNER who is being the tool. A MAN faces up to the PERSON.
Did you know that a FBI profile for a serial killer mentions that when they were young they have a tendancy to harm pets/animals...think about it.

picking a fight with a dog? what's next you going to go smack around his girlfriend/wife a bit? if there really is no conflict between you and him i seriously doubt he can get you band. if the guy really is that much of a problem you and everyone else involved needs to get together and take it up with the owner of the place. let the highest power involved handled it

i would talk to the guy and reason with him to keep his dog on a leash. tell him that its for the expense of BOTH his and your cars. durring the summer, i take my dog (Siberian Husky) with me to my local track. however, my dog will NOT chase any kind of rc vehicle, even if his life depended on it, and everyone at my track loves my dog. even the track owner :D even though my dog usually just sleeps at the track all day, i STILL, ALWAYS, NO MATTER WHAT, keep my dog on a leash and under close observaton.

i pitted out of the back of the fam van and i let my dog crawl in it to get out of the sun

Ya, I was just joking. A man should always try to work it out with the pets owner.

My pop had a '61 Vette when he was in High School/ College and there was a dog that would always pee on his front right tire. He never saw the owner so he wet the tire one night with dirty water (conducts electricity better) and put a 12V car battery on the tire. The dog never peed on the tire again!

I gotta say some of the crap in this thread is rather dissappointing. So I will ignore it and post this specifically to Killerush.

First thing, take a step back and think about a couple things. You are on private property, correct? Are you paying and fees for using the property? Were you invited or just saw it and decided to make yourself at home? If someone gets injured as a result, are they even insured for your being there? Just that in itself demonstrates these people are sticking their neck out to let you play - if you get injured it is a serious liability. That's why you see so many fences and no trespassing signs all over the place.

Sure, a dog out of control is a pain in the a**. But it's like some parents, their children can do no wrong, same with most dog owners. You'll have a difficult time getting anyone to see things any differently.

Your first problem is to resolve why the guy has a problem with you. Either he has you confused with someone else or doesn't like the way you looked at his dog (probably kicked at, RIGHT? :D ) The second is how to ask him how to keep his dog under control on his (or his company's) property where you are a GUEST.

The dog is not the major issue here. It is private property, by invitation only. I am a shift supervisor at my LHS, so I was invited. The problem is, I wouldn't know this guy from Adam, but he evidently has a problem with me. I don't understand why, just about everyone there knows me, either because I sold them their RC or have tried to help them in one way or another. I have just decided to keep my distance until they figure out how things will be regulated at the track (dues, members etc..). I'm sure it will work out, I'm just gonna keep an ear out for now.

I guess the funny part is where you are telling the story like you beleive it yourself. Why don't we stop trying to one-up the last person who tortured an animal in one way or another just for the simple fact that there are younger eyes on here learning everything you post. Most of it is un-beleivable and rediculous anyway, so why waste the post? (I am not picking on you, I mean it for all of the stupid posts about things that people don't know the first thing about anyway).

At my track one guy has the same dog and they are a good as gold, they sit under the pit benches and watch the cars go round the track and have never even thought about chasing one, (nor are they afraid)

I agree you should just walk up to him and ask him ***, especially if you have some guys on your side to keep you from getting boot stomped, he may be the older brother of some chick you dogged in high school and has good reason to hate you lol, he may not even be aware that his dog annoys you, maybe he thinks teeth holes in rc tires are funny and the body marks are just character, I have a buddy that lets his dog chew on one of his cars, they actually play fetch with an rc18mt, well he runs until he crashes them the dog catches it and brings it back, kind of like fetch anyway.
Otherwise you could simply call animal control and have them go over to the track if he is there when you show up, if the dog damages your car you actually could sue him, if a dog bites someone or jumps on a car its known as strict liability, meaning the owner is responsible for having a dangerous pet, in the eyes of the law all dogs are dangerous animals thus the liability is strict to the owner of the animal if it damages property or causes injury, even to other animals. (dog kills prize winning goat or whatever)
Strict liability means even if someone cuts across your yard and is bitten by your dog you are responsible even if you have up a beware of dog sign.
