I’m looking to get some really nice battery packs for racing only. I have about 10 older 2000 packs that I practice on, but there’s just not enough punch for racing. I currently drive a FTTC3 with a Novak Cyclone TC and a P2k Pro. Currently I’m at the top of the novice class at the track, and want to bump up – but I need packs that I can race with. The races are 4 minutes long, so I don’t need tons of run time, mostly punch. Also I would like to use these packs when I jump up classes again, which race 5 minutes. Matched packs are a definite. I’m curious if 2000s would provide more punch than 2400s, or what would be recommended. I first thought about getting matched 2400s, but figured I’d ask on here if people find more punch with the 2000s. I’m also curious what company to get them through. I know Trinity, Peak, Integy, Reedy, and Orion make matched packs – Is one better than the other? Thank you for any information you can give me!

2000's would be perfect for stock racing. 2400's offer higher run time, but more internal resistance. 2400's are also slightly heavier... but you might not notice that. :)

As far as which brand name is better.. Reedy buys their batteries from Trinity... so you do the thinking on this one. :)

All the good # 2000's are gone. So you are really choosing between 24's and the new Stock Metal Hydride Panasonic 3000's.

What kind of charger do you have?

Indi 16x2 Pro v2.5 I can handle NiMH batteries, I have two packs now. I've found some really nice number 2400 packs from Integy (425s+ 1.18v+). They look to be really nice, and on the cheaper side of the matched 2400s. I've seen an article on the Stock Metal Hydride backs and they look really nice. I'm just wondering about the longevity of the packs. I know I can keep NiCd packs discharged all the way and they will last a long time. The 3000 packs I have I discharge, but not all the way, I don't know how the overall memory effects are over time. Does anyone have any proven techniques for 3000 pack care?

Triniy is the exclusive US distributer of Sanyo and Panasonic cells designed for the RC industry.

That is why Trinity is the only source for SMH cells right now.

The new Stock Metal Panasonics are the best cells you could possibly own. Trust me. This BB is not exactly loaded with knowledgable people, and I am not going to waste time typing the story for some backyard basher kids.

Integy does not use the same matching methods as the rest of the industry. That is why they have really good numbers for less money. I'll leave it at that. 1.18 cells at a TRUE 20 amp discharge rate are probably 1 in 5000. They sure aren't going to be cheap.

Here is a good source of battery info. http://www.rctouring.com/rcubb/Forum1/HTML/000976.html

RCtouring.com is a great site for info.

You should post there Narib. There are many international posts, as well as guys from the US. Very informative.

1) I did not imply that. If you want some good battery info check out that link.

2) Of course they do. I do not belive you get better cells by purchasing Trinity cells. But all cells matched in the US, come through Trinity. I run for SMC. In my opinion SMC, Orion, and Trinity are labeled very accurately, and when you cycle them on the T35, the numbers you get are very close to the labels.
