I know that the Ni-MH lasts longer...but what other differences are there???
do i need a peak charger if i get a Ni-MH?
right now, i have a 1300 6cell battery, i know its a piece of crap and i use a piece of crap timer charger...
If i get a 2400 Ni-Cd, can i still use my old charger??? or do i also need a peak charger???
What's the difference between a timer charger and a peak charger??
The motor im running is a Maxtec Modified and i dont have an esc yet..
any suggestions???

Your suspicions are correct, you do need a quality peak charger to charge NiMh's properly. NiMh's have much less tolerance for overcharging than NiCd's, so your charger needs to be able to shut off after very little voltage drop, before the pack gets too hot & becomes damaged. Also, I'm still not convinced that NiMh's have the durability to keep working after a year of running or more, I was among the first to try the early Panasonics, & within a year, all 5 packs I bought were toast(at least one cell in each pack shorted out, & the rest lost a lot of performaance as well). Thge newer Stock Metal Hydrides seem to be holding up, but I'd still wait at least another 6 months before I buy any, just to see if they still stay together. Right now, especially if you're not seriously racing, 2400's are really the best way to go, you can charge them with any charger(just like packs with less capacity, you just have to charge them longer, until they get warm), & they have excellent voltage & run time, which is still competitive for serious stock & most modified racing(except for possibly 8 minute races & running touring cars with 6-8 turn motors). best of all, you can be sure that 2400's will still perform well 2 or even 3 years down the road, while like I said, NiMh's are still questionable..... :)
