I have the ICE and it can cycle batteries up to ten times. The delay between each cycle can be set from 1-30 minutes. People told me that its best to wait one hour after a full discharge before charging a pack again to allow the boiling chemicals inside the battery to settle down and cool off. Does this mean that its not a good idea to cycle NiMH batteries?
ex: a cycle of 4 dischage>charge steps. That would even go over the 3 cycles per day rule for NiMH.

yeah. I think that the cycling feature is more for nicads because they can build up a memory, and need to be discharged and charged a few times to get rid of the memory. The only benefit to nimh's that I can think of would be an old pack that has not been used in a while.

NiCd's has a memory, should go below the theshold of cutoff. Where as NiMh dont have memory. Racers Does recycle their batteries b4 a race, To start out with a discharge battery, repeaked on charging for more power for racing. Recycling a battery is recommended on how you use them. Bashing around maybe once a month. racing you may do it once a week.

Some of my nimhs don't get used every month. These are mainly rx or tx pacs a maybe some of the packs for my 18th scale rcs. I cycle them on my Ice and watch to see how many cycles it takes until charge/disch levels flatten off. It never takes more than 3 cycles. On rx/tx pacs I slow charge and set a 5min wait between cycles cause they don't get that warm (def not hot).
For my gp1100s and ib1400s, I charge/disch at 1.5amp and use a 15min cooling period between cycles as they do get warm. I've been doing this a little over 2 yrs and don't see any downside to doing it.
