Duratrax Firehammer MT best price I can find is 875$

There is not really that much to the vehicle.....why so much? Makes me want to start building my own version and sell it.....some sort of custom Chassis, Truggy suspension pieces, and LST wheels.....and then drop a "cheap" 23cc weadwacker engine in it to get it moving......

Was looking on tower hobbies....parts seem fairly cheap,
Chassis = 84.99
Rear upper & lower arms = 8.98
Front upper & lower arms = 8.98
gas tank = 12.99
engine mounting plate = 1.79

You get the point......it appears you almost could make a 1/5 roller with
an engine for around 400$, minus electronics

I'm thinking it will cost you a lot more to make your own 1/5-scale gas-powered truck. Plus, DuraTrax distributes it to hundreds of hobby stores and offer parts support. The FireHammer MT includes: a failsafe; a Futaba FM radio; metal gear servos for steering and throttle; a pre-painted, pre-trimmed body; a kill switch; a parts warrenty; a receiver pack and charger; pre-glued tires; aluminum shocks with threaded bodies; a clutch ... "You get the point"

Now, I've driven the FireHammer MT, and it's worth the money. Is it a lot of money? Sure it is, but it's still one of the least expensive large-scale RC vehicles on the market.

Hey, if you can pull it off, more power to ya. I just think the FireHammer MT might not be for everyone (what is?), but it's worth the money.

Yeah, I have to agree with you on that one......it does look fun. I now find it under 800$ after looking around a bit.....it might be the perfect toy for when not out tinkering with Nitro racing.

that truck is high on my wants list. If I'm not mistaken, MCD can be made 4WD.
