I was curious as to how the various manufacturers determine when they will release a new product or at least give out some info on an upcoming product. How do the magazines find out about it? Are they given some info that says we will have a press release on our website on a certain date? Do you guys at RCCA for example already know of some of the 2007 releases from the companies already, but if you say anything they will have to kill you? How does the process from R&D to released for retail sale work?
Of course my questions are for a specific company and the hopes of a release of a specific vehicle, but also more of a general question too. I used to work in the car sales business, and we always new months in advance about what was coming out with in the next few months or so, and had spy shots long before that. Obviously it is easier to hide a car that is 20” long as opposed to 20’ long, but RC companies seem to be good at keeping things under wraps until it is ready for market.
If any of the RCCA staff or moderators could give some “behind the scenes” info on this topic, that would be great! Your world is one that we want to live and work in, so if we can live vicariously through you, all the better!
Thanks!
