I just added a set of depron ailerons to my super cub that I found in a ditch.
I call it the "Ditch Pig". I used two servos.
I'm Hoping to test it soon, once the weather permits.
It's a fun little foamer to fly.

Hi thunderbirdlver and aerobird.
Ya i'm looking forward to testing out the ailerones. it flys well with the brushless.
As far as out of the box, I don't know I found the plane in a ditch on the side of a road. I took it home and gutted it and installed my own stuff in it.
It will fly right out of my hand and almost straight up.

Speaking of luck  I took the plane out last night to try out the ailerons and to run some in-flight data logging, to see what the amp draw
is on the motor with the 11x4.5 RS gws slow fly prop.

I ended up dumb thumbing the plane up into the top of a tree.
It was up 35 feet in a persons back yard. Had to go get three lenths of pipe
joined to make 30 feet pole. then had to also use a ladder to reach.
I did get it out of the tree but it was in two pieces hehe :D
Anyway the amp draw way 18 amp max, way to high for this motor.
I took it home and bench tested the motor with an 10x6 HD GWS
prop and came in at 13 amp static at WOT.
I'll take it back out to see if I like the performance of this prop.

Below is the data from the bench test with the 10x6HD on a 3s lipo.

The HZ Super Cub has become one of the top recommendations for a first RTF plane. It flies very well, right out of the box and is very durable. I think it is even a better choice than the Aerobird that got me into the skys a few years ago.

I have a Hobbyzone Super Cub. I was just wondering, when the prop is perfectly vertical is it normal for it to be very slightly bent inward toward the plane? Thanks For your time...

Hi it is normal for the motor to be mounted on a slight angle to one side.
This helps to correct for the torque of the motor and prop, to help make the plane fly straight. If the motor was mounted straight the plane would want to fly in a tight circle. Also on some planes the motor is also pointed downward a bit to help keep a plane with a high lift wing from stalling and climbing to much.

Glen,
Thanks much for your prompt reply. Much appreciated!!! I'm thinking of purchasing a Nexstar with AFS. Do you know anyone who has one and if they are pleased with the plane? I can get it here in Newfoundland locally for $379.00 complete. Is that a good price??

Thanks Again
