What are the limits on how many turns and winds are allowed in stock class racing in ROAR. I am just getting started racing.

ROAR motors I believe are 27 turns. Most motors say if they are ROAR legal. Green Machine 3's, P2K's, MVP's are probably the most popular.

Yes, stock legal motors have a 27 turn, single wind arm using 22awg wire, have bushings, tags on the arm to identify it as legal, a 1.4mm diameter can, & an endbell that has timing locked at 24 degrees(though they are rebuildable now, they just have a slot & tab that locks the timing). Before it is legalized for running in ROAR-sanctioned events, a new motor(as in new design of motor) must be submitted to ROAR for approval by the manufacturer, & once it's approved anyone can use it at any ROAR sanctioned races, or any track that goes by ROAR rules(which is most of them in the U.S.). Oh, & also there is a price cap on stock motors, the retail price of a stock motor cannot exceed $40. Examples of ROAR-legal motors include the Trinity P2K, Green Machine 3, Reedy MVP, Orion Chrome Stock, & Peak Spitfire..... :)

what about the integy TQx-PRO2001 MATRIX V9.0 PRO Stock.
it says
M2477R
Based on the Yokomo MVP ROAR approved stock motor. Peak RPM@7.20V is 28,000+ with 2.0oz-in torque. The latest high power stock motor by MATRIX, higher rpm than the V7.5.PRO, new timing slotted brush and revolutionary magnetizing technique boost rpm, higher torque while lowering maximun peak current. This motor has the highest power output, minimal balance hole size, minimum number of balancing holes for structural integrity, legal for all sanctioned racing.
and is this a good motor or is there a better 1

if i were buying a Matrix motor, i would buy the Epic based P-2-k Matrix, or wait a few weeks and get the Matrix P-2-k "2" version.....

peace out.... :)

Yes, the motor you mentioned is legal, since it's based on the MVP(that basically means it IS an MVP with their own choice of brushes & springs, & in the case of some builders, some tuning time on the dyno). Now, it is possible to find a good motor from Integy, but as with most(though not all) builders you'll also come across some bad ones(they're mass produced, so there'll always be better than normal & worse than normal ones in the mix). As for the numbers you mentioned, I'm not sure how good those may be, it doesn't sound like they're from a Robitronics dyno(which is the one I'm most familiar with), & besides that you'll see different results with the same motor on different dynos, even when they're the same brand & model. However, I can say that I do like the MVP very much, I've been using it extensively since they first came out & after tuning some to my tastes I've gotten them to really crank out the power(same as a good P2K, same torque, but better top end), & they don't seem to suffer the same problems carrying speed through high-speed corners like P2K's do(it's because of a lack of torque at high rpm)..... :)
