I'm desperatly looking for information regarding this cars. I'm looking for Reviews, Pros-Cons, Track Tests, and everything. I checked the Tamiya page, well, that page **** *, no info, nothing, they just say, check out our new ta04 super pro special hyper chassis for only 3000 dollars ( just kidding eheh http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif)
Well that's it, I need some info regarding TB01 TL01 TA03F TA03

I have a TA03f and it's great!! If you can't get the TA04, go with the ta03f or ta03r. The F is front motor, and it handles well, altought It may easily spin out with more motor power because it's front heavy. I have mine modded with a custom fiber glass chassis (that i made!), universals, bearings, and a p2k. It runs great, but it can be spun. I say go for the ta03r because it will probably be easy to handle.

I had a TA03F, and was never really happy with it. Always seemed that the tranny couldnt handle too much speed.

Its great for bashing around since the gears are fully enclosed, but if you're looking for performance or racing quality you'll have to look elsewhere.

Try the HPI sport 2, or even a tc3. they both will smoke the tamiyas straight out of the box. Spares are just as common for either of these as with the tamiyas.

if you really want a tamiya, then have the TB01. Not really a rally car, but well built. have heard good things about it.

Thats my 2 cents.

the TL01 is a good beginer car. I'd say go with a TA03R. Never driven one but for the price you cant beat it. The good thing about the TA03R is that it has ball diffs in pro form (which is every TA03R I think?). If anything else get a TB01. If I were you though I'd buy a TB01 Evo. Comes out soon and has most of the goodies from Tamiya in the box. And I believe after Tamiya releases the Evo and the TL01 long arm set there might be a possibility of a TRF TL01. If you cant make up yor mind on what to get do get the TB01. Can you say TC3 Killer?????

Well, I have some experience with R/C
I already have a few Kyoshos off-roads both gas and eletric, and a TA02, but that's 3 years ago. Today I found myself reading a Car Action where the super cool Sedan was the Tamiyas front wheel drive..hehehe
I'm planning to have fun, only have fun kicking the butt of my big friend with his celica ta02 throught dirt and rally tracks.

What's the difference between the TL-01 and TB-01?!??!
Does the TA03F handles huh, heh, lots of dirt? what about the others??
Well, thanx for the answers dudes!!

If you really want to get a Tamiya, go for the TAO3F Pro. Throtl Hapie, I don't fully agree that the front motor mounting can be spun out, the car is being pulled not pushed. Most of the power is being delivered to the front wheels, gives you a much better handling.

And about handling the speed, mine hits about 35mph/60kmh(bob, I think thats right). Parts availibility is a little tricky, but the LHS can order it for you. RRP has a gear conversion to standard and also has all the gears in steel.

The TAO3F Pro comes with the Carbon Fiber Chassis, as for the TAO3F has the gray tub style chassis. But very good car overall, both on the track and in the middle of the street. I don't know to much of the other models, but I hear that the TBO1 is awsome.

If you know what to look for and how to apply real world physics and down size it, you can turn any beginner car into a race worthy trophy taker.

Have you seen this website http://www.gtpcalif.com , can't order but you can get item numbers so you can talk to your LHS about ordering.

Oh my car does spin out, I have a p2k, and I put a 20 tooth pinion in it and it was spinning out. It lowered the gears a bit, and it can still spin out. Maybe I forgot to mention that I can spin it out only when I force it to. Just making a regular turn I can't spin it out, but if I zig zag like crazy then give it full throttle coming out of a zag and a turn all the way, I can get it spinning and doing donuts. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif Keep in mind it's not easily done, but it can happen.

That explains it, you're shifting all the momentum to the rear wheels. I found it a little strange, because I run a 9x3 Orion, never spins out. Man that must be really tricky. I can only do that when I gun it and then turn to a power slide and the ground is really wet, after it rains. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/cool.gif

Also, you have the pro, with sway bars, and that probably helps. I am also using the stock tires with the little x pattern in them, so I don't think those are too grippy.

Hey Riggy, it seems you have plenty of spare parts. Have you ever considered putting a TAO3F front assembled gear case and a TAO3R rear assembled gear case on the grey tub chassis to make a two (2) motor super tourer. I can't find the rear gear case anywhere. I've thought about several times but can never find the complete case. I'd hate to buy the kit just for that peice, but sooner or later I will find that peice. Let me know if anyone out there wants to donate there old or never run TAO3R kits or parts. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/cool.gif

There is no rear gear case. It's simply the front gear case without the lower housing.

It would be real cool if you put 2 front gear cases and suspension on a TA03 because you could have 2 motors, 4WD and 4 wheel steering! That would rock. Of course you would have to make some sort of a custom servo mount for the back.

we've tried twin motor 03s before, twin motor m01/02 before and we dont actually like the handling...ie it doesnt handle...and has comical (ridiculous) top speed.. reason being no two motors run the same..even same brands..so this upsets the chassis and the extra weight dulls handling..i'd prefer running my ta03f with a 10turn double for the speed.

someone has done the 4wheel steering ta03 and tl01 in japan...but as stated again...the extra weight offsets the extra steering response..i'd prefer using a full one way system on the 03f for more steering...(running a one way diff and one way pulley up front)

Yeah but it would be cool anyway...

Throlthapie, Ill try that 4WD, 4WS on one of my TAO3's. I'm pretty sure I can do it. I have oodles of electronics and boxes of spare kit parts since I entered this hobby (12yrs ago), I'll let every body know how it turns out. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/cool.gif

I have A Tamiya TL-01 4wd Ford F150 SVT Lightning and it has rpm rims and Hpi superslicks but it is way too slow. I haven't customized any more than mentioned but it is really really slow because the power is transfered to 4 wheels instead of 2.

Get the TB01 its the better of all cars mentioned except the tB01 Evo that is. review of the evo and a project Tb01 are both in the march issue which is great.
