Hello! I hope some of you guys have used the Tamiya Frog re-re and/or the original.
I owned an original when they came out, and stripped a few hex-shafts. No Biggie. I never had problems with the shafts popping out.
So I was excited when I saw they re-released it (lost all my frog stuff years ago). I built it, and noticed that they switched to dog-bones. I thought it was a good idea.
I run the car with an 8.4v battery and a stock motor. I have been plagued with problems with the dogbones popping out. Mostly on the right side. The shafts seemed to be a bit short, and flex in the trailing arms under extreme manuvers flexed a bit, allowing the shaft to push out.
So I bought the Tamiya upgrade kit, and put it in thinking that would fix it. I took the car out on damp, bumpy grass. Within minutes I had the same problem. Obviously the outer end of the shaft is locked in, so it popped out on the inner end, and the socket came out of the gearbox.
I just finished a (hopefull) solution. I drilled the stock alum trailing arm brackets to add a 3rd screw (like a blackfoot has).
Anyone else run into this? I also have a vintage blackfoot that has no such problems.
