I'm confused, does the paint go on the underside, or on top? What do you do with two colors, because I read something about doing dark colors first.

You Paint it on the inside of the car

The reason you paint it on the underside of the car is because that way it wont chip from the speed and air bubbles. It also gives the car a nice glassy look over the paint.

Normally you put on the dark color first, with a few exceptions. If the dark color is a flame, you wouldn't want to mask off the rest of the body, would you. If you have to paint a darker color second, be sure you back up the lighter color with at least one coat of white or silver.
