Please forgive me, I've JUST started into R/C cars....I just bought a P2K motor, and I noticed that there's no wires connected to the motor that connect to the speed control. Am I correct in assuming I can take the wires off my crappy motor and put them on the P2K? If this is the case, could someone explain IN GREAT DETAIL how I would go about connecting the wires to the motor? Thanks!

You lost me there. What kinda esc do you have? if you tell use what kinda esc it would be a lot easier to tell you how to wire your motor. im not sure if the P2K has capacitors already soldered on, but are they one there? If no you MUST solder them on.

It's an LRP Runner Plus Reverse. The P2K has the capacitors already soldered on. It's the wires that go from the motor itself to the ESC that the P2K doesn't have, and my crappy stock motor has the wires soldered on.

no problem.... but you will need a soldering iron, and some solder......

first... heat up the old wires where they connect to your old motor on the endbell motor tabs... once heated hot enough, the wires will come off.... make sure you note which is the Positive wire, and which one is the negative wire... this is very important.. if you accidently wire your new motor backwards, it will run backwards, and that isn't good news for a motor with 24 degrees of advanced timing...

next.. grab your P-2-K (killer motor btw)...

you will need to "tin" the motor tabs on the p-2-k... in other words, you will need to get the motor tabs (the place where the wires connect to your motor) hot enough that solder will melt on them.... once you have used your soldering iron and melted a bit of solder on both the positive and negative motor tabs... now you are ready to solder the motor wires on....

once again, make sure you put the positive wire to positive motor tab, and negative to negative.... use your soldering iron to get the solder on the end of the motor wires hot enough to melt onto the solder you already have laid down on the motor tabs....

once you have done this... pull on them a bit, to make sure you got them soldered on well enough... but don't yank too hard, it may bend the P-2-k's copper motor tabs...

go ahead and bolt your motor back in...

also... make sure you get the mesh just right between your spur and pinion gears.... if it is too tight, everything will run hot, and you will loose a bunch of run time... if too loose, you may strip your gears out... so you should leave just about enough play so a piece of thin paper would fit between the pinion and spur are they are turned....

peace out.... :)
