You have to solder them on. Yes they are way better than the Tamiya ones. Most(not all) use the Deans plugs, they are what I prefer. The Tamiya conn. have alot of resistance which creats heat that melts them together. Its not the battery but the motor is drawing a lot of amps which combined with the resistance of the connectors is melting them. Good conn. will solve the problem.

Sermos type connectors are great. I have them and they work fine. Duratrax makes them or you can get them from Acer www.acerracing.com (http://www.acerracing.com) Acer has them for a very good price.

Just get Deans, that is what i use and the majority of people use, you can get them in 1 pair(male, female) or in 4 pack females, you need 2 males, 1 for ESC and 1 for charger(unless you have alligator clips) Deans are faster, i noticed slight power increase, and they have NEVER even got close to hot, so hot that i could not touch them

I prefer the powerpole connectors. The deans plugs are too small for my fingers. Anything is better than a tamiya connector. You don't have to solder the powerpoles but they will work better if you do.

ahh, I remember sermos powerpole connectors. I converted to deans power plugs (2pin) and haven't been disappointed since. I don't see how you would use powerpole connectors without "rigging" them. You would need to insert the wires into the metal contact, clip the contact into the plastic shell, and then tape the wires to the plastic shell to prevent the wires from coming out...

Soldering is the ONLY way to go, unless you don't care about performance. Why not just twist the wires together and put a big paper clip on em http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/tongue.gif j/k

I run the Acer's. www.acerracing.com (http://www.acerracing.com) Silver is the most conductive metal. Acer claims that their connectors are silver plated and the Deans claim to use gold. So I chose the Acer's for the less resistance, cheaper price, and the convenience(1 type of plug, no female no male types). I will stay with Acer plugs too. I'm not saying Deans plugs are bad but I just prefer to choose the Acer's. I personally thought the Acer's were easy to install and the end of the wire is protected inside of the plastic housing. I believe the Deans just use that black tape like stuff or shrink wrap. Plus the sermos can be built individually (just negative or just positive)unlike the Deans so that you can make a 3-way to hook packs up in a series.
