Does anybody else get this question from their wives/girlfriends? Whenever I go to the hobbyshop to get some parts, and my wife finds out, or i'll tell her i'm running to the hobbyshop to get some parts. I always get the "how much did you spend?" It doesn't matter if I go to Bestbuy or Suncoast to get dvd's, or go shop somewhere else, only the hobbyshop.

when i do tho, she simply says " you could drop $100 in a bar or strip joint, and have nothing to show for it. I know where your money goes, and its to something you enjoy...so if we have it, its okay"

i have the best g/f EVER!!!!!! :D

she even got a bit giddy when i came home with new rims and ESC for HER truck!

my wife is more annoyed by me wanting to stop by for no particular reason, especially when we are out of town for a wedding or a concert or something and I have to stop in and check out the LHS, been to some pretty shady parts of town just looking for a hobby shop I might not even buy anything at.

My g/f used to complain about it. But then I say, "How much did you spend on that Coach bag?" conversation over ;)

Incedently, my g/f has almost as much money invested in shoes and bags as I have in r/c stuf....almost :D The only difference is, I never use credit cards at the hobby shop. And Jenn uses credit cards for everything.

I dont smoke, rarely drink, and I dont go hang out with the guys much. So If this is all I spend our extra money she doesnt care. When I go overboard though and she questions it I just use the exuse "I'm just trying to build a nice collection for Julian(our 5 y.o son)" :p

I am the guy that my friends that are married comes to rescue them. When that argument comes up, they call me and I come in and store their cars and trucks in my basement. Out of sight, out of mind. I also tell them to paint their cars the same scheme so that the girls do not notice that something is different. During the winter time, my storage space looks like a parking lot! I am proud to keep my friends in the RC hobby with my convenience and my storage capability!
Oh yea, I keep my girl friend out of my basement!! again.. out of sight, out of mind!

Nope I don't get that question. Single baby!!! I did have a g/f but I like this life a little better. My money can go where I want it to and spend it on things that I like. It's just a little easier.

... especially when we are out of town for a wedding or a concert or something and I have to stop in and check out the LHS...

I hear ya. But the way I figure it I've got a right to drag them on an LHS hunt. After all I followed her through how many stores...? "Yes, dear that's interesting..." "Those plates are nice dear, but we've got a set of plates that we don't already use much because we've been using the plastic to keep the kids from breaking them all." "No dear, I don't like that because you'll want to take one of my decorative pieces down to put that up." <looking at several boxes of kids shoes in cart> "Honey, just how many shoes do we have that those kids have never worn?"

If I want to pick up a part or two there's not a whole lot she can say with any sort of legitimacy.

My wife <ex now> told me if I kept up buying so much in rc equipment, she was going to leave, so as I was on the way to the shop to pick up two new engines I ordered, I stopped by the U-Haul dealer and bought her some moving boxes.
Now, I dont have that problem anymore.
And boy, is it nice and quite around here now.

My girlfriend is pretty awesome :) We've been together almost 3 years. She actually bought me a factory team TC4 for Christmas. She doesn't mind me spending my money on RC stuff all that much. She knows I really enjoy it and what makes me happy makes her happy and vice-verca :). She really likes 57 Chevy Bel Airs.. so I picked up a 57 chevy body, some nice chrome wheels and vintage looking HPI tires to put on the TC4. I know it's not a real '57 chevy, but she thinks it's cool either way :)

I'd be amazed if anyone actually got divorced over RC. I just don't think it's possible. The marriage would have to have so many other problems that RC couldn't be the actual cause of the failure.

My wife is pretty cool about RC. I try to curb my hobby-related spending, but more than the money, it's the time that's usually an issue. Now that I'm married with a young family, it's hard to be gone all day for a day of racing. I'd race every weekend if I could, but I can only get away with that for about a month.

Wow, guys.. you so lucky.. I am 13 I DONT get allowence. I have to work to get my money for Rc, then I have to bage my parents to let me even buy a replacement part.. If I come up with a good reason though, its still Super hard to confinve them. It took me 5 months of beging to get a new car.... It's easyer now becase I already have 1 and I can sell it and I'm looking into a Used E-maxx.... Suxs to be me :(  Oh yea.. and I forgot.. my Hobbie shop is around 8 miles away.. a 40 Min mabe a 30 or 40 min buss/sky train there.. and LHS stuff.. over priced Big time

Eli, yeah, I know what you mean. I remember when I was young I had to buy my own stuff too. I bought a team T3 truck and the closest hobby shop was - well - there really wasn't one. I had to order online. I made my money during the summer though. I could afford it since I didn't have any other bills to pay. That winter (when I was 13) I remember I revised an RC10T truck with an extra chassis so it was like 3 feet long to be a snow crawler. I machined wheel adapters to accept the biggest monster truck tires available. That thing was cool.. but it was ridiculous :) Ah, the memories.
