I'm a newbie to this forum, be gentle :)

I have an older Tamiya electric off-road buggie with a Trinity 15T motor and a mechanical speed control.

Just recently when I punch the car to full speed, it will remain at full speed and turn left "doing donuts" and will not respond to anything from the controller for anywhere from 1 sec to 10+ secs. I've replaced the batteries in the control, no help. I've already ran over half of my dad's garden because of this, he wasn't happy. Any ideas?

Thanks alot! :)

Get rid of the MSC and get a ESC.

Make sure that the servo wires arnt on metal and if you twidle with the wires, it might work better. also check transmetter batterys. i had the same problem with my extremly old clodbuster and it worked better after that.

What it sounds to me is that you are just plain overloading the Mechanical Speed Controller, a 15 turn is waaay too much for it, what my guess is, is the amp draw makes the throttle stick, that could be it, but these guys have the right idea, and ESC. Novak is the highest quality in my opinion, and the Explorer 2 sounds like it would be best for you, it has a 15 turn motor limit, and is relatively cheap(I think under 60 dollars in most places).

If you need help installing, just give us a holler.

Thanks everyone.

Didn't really want to spend anymore cash on this car, saving to get a new nitro truck.

I'm going to throw the old stock engine back in and see what happens. I'll follow up.

I think I'm going to like it here :)
