What is this cancer warning on my motor about???...is this a dangerous product? It's a Team Orion Chrome Hand wound motor. 10T double.

All motors say that. They just have to say that so if that slim chance (very, very, very slim) actually happens, they won't get sued.

EVERYTHING has that warning nowadays. It's just paranoia due to a lack of common sense by the users of these products. I'd guess that the biggest thing they're warning about is lead, lots of things have some in it(including the solder we all use). Really, as long as you exercise some common sense with this stuff, you have nothing to worry about..... :)

The latest thing I saw a warning sign on, my new charcoal chimmeny for the grill. It read:

"Caution, this can become extremely hot during use and can cause severe burns."

Yet more ammo for the world to use to laugh at us. I'm moving to France. They may be proud of silly things like cheese, but at least their general population is bright enough to know fire gets hot.

My favorite warning of all time:

*well I gott preface this a bit. I was near Bend, Oregon camping. We had just bought a new cheapo (but HUGE) rubber raft at the local sporting goods store. We were unboxing it to blow it up so we could float down the Metolius river. Out falls this piece of paper. On it were the words:

WARNING: Do not eat this raft.

I AM NOT KIDDING !!!!!!!!

Another good one is what was writen on frozen hamburger patties that I bought at Costco (well, not really a warning, but still funny):
Ingredients: (funny enough right here. Aren't hamburger patties supposed to be just gound up beef?) "partially defatted beef fatty tissue"

I was like, uhhhh should be actually EAT these ?

I almost peed myself when I read about the woman who got pregnant, and was suing the manufacturer, after she put spermicidal jelly on her toast.

I asked the same thing a few months ago when I got my first electric stuff. What I believe the chemical is that causes the cancer is the lead in the solder.

I too am worried about this because I've had 2 family members die due to cancer (grandfather and father). My theory right now is just don't eat the stuff and make sure you wash your hands after using it (not to mention before eating).

Precisely, & make sure that when you solder to do it in a well-ventilated area(just crack a window & run a room fan, that should be fine) to keep the solder fumes out of your face......

The warnings on electric motors are due to the lead content of the solder used to make them.
