I'm thinking about getting a beginner off-road buggy/truck. I'm thinking either the evader st by duratrax or the XXX-Spec buggy or truck, and if the XXX which radio should I get?

Personally I'd take the Losi just because they are a racing company but that Evader looks pretty good also. You do get a lot of bang for the buck with the Duratrax though. Its up to you in the end since its your money. Which can you get parts for? Do you want to bash or race? These will probably decide what you want to do.

I would get a Futaba 2PEKA FM radio. Its only 115 and its FM! I had one and I really liked it. :D

If I waz u, I would get the regular XXX or XXXT. They come with full bearings. and you need those, but with the choices you gave, the spec version is sweet. Also, a radio you might consider is the JR XR2 or XR3

The Spec series does not come with bearings!! You get some of the tranny bearings though. If I had a chance to go back, I wouldn't get the Spec truck. The "savings" just aren't worth it. After you add the bearing kit, a couple of bearings for the diff and CVD's, it's almost more!

The Evader only cost $109!!!

Perhaps the best price/performance value in RC history! The Evader comes with full ball bearings, a ball diff, oil filled aluminum shocks with threaded bodies, 20 turn modified motor, slipper clutch, a reversing esc, and so much more for only $109 or $169 with radio. Amazing!

All I have to say is Caveat Emptor. With my local LHSs dropping Duratrax stuff I wouldn't buy any of it for lack of support and parts. I would hate to have to wait days for a part to arrive. I am in no way dissing Duratrax as I have run some of their stuff and found it OK. Kind of a shame.

if you hvae to go with one of those i would go with the Losi... but the AE T3 RTR or T3 FT are really great trucks. also, if you want to go with Losi go with that new Limited edition RTR XXX-T. that thing is sweet!

If you're not going to be racing on a track, I would get the Evader. The price is incredibly low, and I'm sure it will be durable like other Duratrax vehicles. In fact, I think it looks a lot like a Losi double-XT.
