View Full Version : Battery charge calculator
I found this battery charge calculator (http://www.greenbatteries.com/batterycalc.html) and was wondering if it is correct? If I input my 1500mah 4500ma "4.5amp" it says .4 hours it seems to be about right.

Meh...that's a pretty half-ass calculator. A 1500 mah pack at 4.5 amps would charge in right about 20 minutes. Give or take a little depending on how much charge the pack actually takes. .4 hours is 24 minutes. 24 minutes at 4.5 amps equals 1800 mah...a little on the high side for a 1500 mah pack in my experience, but I guess that calculator only does one decimal place and it apparently always rounds up.

hmmm, I entered 4400 mah at 4.4 amps, it told 1200 hours. Or maybe that is supposed to be 1.200 hours. From my own calculation, it should take 1 hour, not 1 hour 12 minutes. Well, it was close :D
Bummer I was looking for a way to simplify the way to know how long to charge packs.
Thanks for the answers guys.

Yeah....that calculator sucks. It won't let me put in 4000mA (4 amps)!
If you want to see about how long it'll take to charge a battery, divide capacity by charge rate. So a GP3300 stick pack charged at 4 amps will take .825 hours. To convert that, multiply by 60 minutes to get your time. Remember, your battery could take longer or shorter depending on how much capacity is left in the battery from the previous run.

lmao you guys are all goofs.
it's rated in milliamps, so 4.4amps is 4400 Ma. You can put in 4000Ma or 4 amps and it works. If it doesn't work, then don't type in 4000Ma just 4000...

The calculater is perfect, but adds 20% for rates that are around C/5
It really needs to have a sliding multiplier .
As the rate goes down the multiplier goes up.
