View Full Version : Faster backwards?

I have an RC10T3 RTR and since the day I bought it, it's been marginally faster in reverse than forwards. When I hold the back wheels up off the ground, you can look at the speed in which they turn and see that they spin faster backwards. Not only that, but you can hear the motor rev higher in reverse....it sounds like it's just plain faster when I go backwards. I checked the wiring instructions for the speed control, and it's correct. Any idea why this is? Could I switch the wires around from the motor to the ESC and hit the servo reverse switch and have it run the opposite?

What sort of ESC do you have? If it is a Novak, you will have to setup your transmitter with the ESC in order to get the ESC to read the proper "throw" of your throttle trigger.
What sort of motor? If you have a modified, it could very well be it does go faster in reverse if you have ever pulled off the end cap and "retarded" the timing when putting it back.
If you have a stock motor (with 24 deg. advanced timing), there is no way it should be going faster in reverse (unless, of course, you wired it reverse to begin with).

Ever since the new Losi XXXT came out, everyone thought it was a better truck then the T3. So Associated, in a mov of marketing brillance to prove their truck was still better then the Losi, engineered the RTR's to go even faster in reverse then an XXXT can for forwards just to embarass Losi. It worked.

that RTR comes with an LRP "runner" esc, and 20 turn motor....
great question....
i would guess that the motor has a bit of advanced timing when run in reverse... so it runs a bit of retarded timing when in foward...
so if anyone knows if the stock 20 turn AE RTR motors has adjustable timing... please post... Agent86 may be a able to do a simple adjustment of timing to get it going full bore in foward like it should...
peace out... :)
