Hey guys I have a guestion about the Super Cub. I would like to try a brushless set up but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I think the Super Cub is a 480 size motor. Does that mean I need a 480 size brushless for it to bolt right in? any help or adivce would be appreciated. Thanks, Kevin.

hey, this is weird... somebody has the same idea as me. I broke the transmitter on my Super Cub so I am in the process of ripping out all of the guts of the Super Cub and going brushless and Lipo. Stay tuned...

If you want to go brushless, I think the better thing might be to convert it to an outrunner direct/drive setup. I ripped out all the electronics first - the servos and speed control and stuff are all proprietary - can't be used with other systems. I'm in the process of adding a receiver and servo first. Once I get further along, I'll post pictures.

In order to go brusheless you will have to replace the speed control. You may have to replace the reciever and transmitter too. Your radio equipment will not work with a brushless motor.

I gutted mine and put in a BP 2410-12 brushless it runs on a 3s lipo
and a GWS rs 11.45 slow fly prop.
flies real well.

Biggy boy: Do you have any pics of what your cub looks like inside? That looks like a stick mount. I'm curious how you secured the stick.

E-flite makes a stick that you can mount directly to your firewall:

That's cool leo.
I just punched a hole into the foam about one inch deep and hot glued a wooden stick into the hole on a 3 degree angle to the right.
I'll try to remember to take a picture of the inside.

I did finally do my own brushless upgrade, but then a few weeks later I totalled my Cub. Here's the writeup:

Ouch that's bad, sorry to see it gone!
The wing looked ok in the video.
How did it fly with the new motor?
