My mate has a little brother aged 8, and wants to get a buggy.

He currently has a Tamiya Baja Champ, but it is Real heavy. I'm not up to speed on various buggies available, so i thought i would ask for help.

The thing is, he wants to let his brother use it, but wants something light and quick. Thus he wants to use stick packs in it, so his brother can give it some abuse, that other battery setups might not take.

Any suggestions of good buggies that take Stick packs?

a team losi xxx does well and traks stick packs and the kysho Ultima RB Ep(i think) takes stick packs too. the xxx is a little bit more expensive in msot places but is race wothy and redy with very little hop ups needed. there is the xx4 aswell, it 4wd and i think it takes stick packs.get the WE(world edition) its more expensive but worth it if he is going to race. what set up are u thinking about

Didn't realise that the XXX took stick packs. He's looking for something fast. It'd only be for bashing around, but he wants something that will keep up with my HPI Rally. Think he's a bit sick of me ripping past him all the time.

He's good with the maintainence, and knows the technical stuff, but has only stick packs. Since his little brother would also be using it, he didnt want to make em into saddle packs, case he picked them out by the wires or something.

As for setup, hes got a basic AM, but a LRP 7.1 and P2K. As you might guess, the tamiya (tank) he has now doesn't make the best of these.

Hey if you read the dec. issue of RCCA it shows a review of the Kyosho ultima rb. Its as good as an XXX, cheaper, easier to fix, but according to the reviewer its pretty much invincible. Read the "thrash test" section and you'll see what Im talkin about.

Before you all disappear, whats the major differences between the spec and competition kit? The losi webite aint too clear on that.

The soec has bushings in the wheels(axles) and it has slider shafts that are plastic instead of the metal drives, and composite out drives, in stead of steeel, and i think a stiffer chassis, blue tires, blue ball cups, and blue bumper/motor guard/body mounts. I think that is it.

How much do you think it'd cost to get the spec up to the regular kit.

Is it less or is it cheaper to get the better version straight away?

p.s.(those blue tires look gr8!)
