Just bought a new ESC. A NOVAK Explorer 2. The guide says it has a 15 turn motor limit. This really stinks since I bought it for my new 13x2 Chrome Touring mod from Oroin. What would happen to the ESC. If it would simply get to hot would cutting a hole in the body to get some airflow over it work. Really need to get rid of the Dynamite Power Pulse. It can handle the mod but I want something without reverse and thats what I got. Plus I would hate to put both ESC's on the car to run one motor or keep switching them in and out. Thats a bunch of zip ties or doubled sided tape.IE one for the mod the other for my stocker. Any help would be apreciated.

I would just put some Thermal Paste($3 at Radio Shack) over the metal fins and then put the heat sink back on. The Paste will help transfer the heat better. I upgraded to the Proline Heatsinks and now everything SEEMS to run cooler! Good luck!

That esc might also have thermal overload protection (i think thats the right one)
Its the one that shuts off the esc when it gets too hot. As long as you gear the motor high (i think) so it will go slower and keep everything cooler it should work alright.

I agree with Top End I wouldnt risk it. That ESC is a good one and it would be a shame to have it burn up. I always have atleast 2 winds above what it says. Just to be safe.

Thanks for your help guys. I guess I'll save up my money for a GM V12 ESC and a 9 turn motor from orion. Just my stupidty got in my way of my smarts. The guy at PnT didnt even say that I should get something different when I bought it. I guess he thought I would use the Power Pulse for the mod and the Novak for the stocker all well. Such as life.

I wouldn't risk it, I've seen ESC's go into meltdown just from using 1 wind hotter than the max they could handle. 2 winds might really be pushing it.

Joe - part of the problem with burning up your motors might have something to do with the type of wire connectors you use. Those things create a ton of resistance.
