Anyone know where I can pick up one of these? I want to get the XXXT but can't afford the standard version. Thought I could get this and upgrade later.

All I know is horizonhobby became the official distributor of losi products a few months ago

Yeah, Horizon Hobby became Losi's official distributor because they actually own Team Losi now.

Nairb is right, Horizon owns Team Losi, and Tower don't sell losi stuff because it is owned by a different distributor(Great Planes) but Horizon, is not bad, I think the XXXT DS is only $149.

There are many other retailers that carry Team Losi products.
www.superiorhobbies.com (http://www.superiorhobbies.com)
www.stormerhobbies.com (http://www.stormerhobbies.com)
www.daltonraceway.com (http://www.daltonraceway.com)

And don't forget about your local hobby shop, without him, you will likely have no place to race. $10-20 more now, will be nothing when he closes the shop/track because he can't pay the bills.

See ya...

So explain this to me. Horizon has a lock on the Losi market? Do they set the street price on all Losi's sold? I tried a few different online places and they all claim Losi products were discontinued. Is Horizon my only Losi choice?

What is the real difference in these Dirt Specs?

ExtremeRC (yeah, that "other" mag!)has an article profiling the DS's. As far as I can tell, and I don't own any Losi's so I am not sure of the comparison, the big diff's are bushings instead of bearings in the axles (they still use BB's in the tranny,) telescoping drive shafts instead of bones or CVD's, and those funky blue tires. Don't know what kind of compound they use. Otherwise it uses the same chassis and mounts and you can upgrade to full Losi potential easily. Check out the article.

One thing that I like about it is that it seems it would be easy to upgrade. Like the bearing issue. The bushings should work fine for light racing. When they where out, replace them with ball bearings. And you don't have to tear down the gear case to replace them cause they are already included in there. Then they out-drives and the driveshafts, just replace them when they are worn out or when you have the money for some cvd's and some alluminum (or whatever material, graphite maybee) out-drives. Thats what I will do when I get the xxx version.
