well I was thinking of going brushless in my orig. RC10 for the fun of it but I went this route instead
dynamite tazor 15T
venom 4200 nimh 6 cell pack
trinity 19 turn cobalt motor
is this a decent combo? I know jack squat about elec. and the guy at the LHS said that that engine is one of the best better be for $60.00 lol has adj. timing and all that good stuff...I only ran about half a pack of my 1800 through it the 4200 was charging and wasnt as impressed as I thought I would have been..should I mess with the timing any or leave it?

also I rember back in the day when I raced my losi jrxSE, that I had to break in my engine I had a stand and a meter and everything but I cant rember all the fine details will it take a few packs before I see some real "power"?

Well that trinity motor will probably only put out a max of about 200 watts while a brushless system is capable of putting out over 1000.
I have not used brushed motors much but from what i have read you will see maybe a 10% improvement after break-in. Also messing with timing can be good and it can be bad, advancing improves top end speed but decreases torque. the best way of adjusting this is with a dyno. Like i said i don't have a lot of experence with brushed motors...

That battery is not much. The 4200 should wake it up some. Your gearing could be off too. Personally, I wouldn't mess with the timing .
That setup should be a pretty good one for the price. I don't think I'd put too much power, certainly not a BL setup, in an original rc10. It was designed when motors output 100 watts or less.

well I just spent 122.00 on the battery and motor lol...hope it was worth it...would it be faster in like a B4? also I am still running the stock tamiya connectors will I notice anything with deans?

Big time difference. (at least in my opinion and experience)

What motor did you have before and what gearing are you running? A 19turn really isn't that fast of a motor. It's a good torquey, midrange motor but if you want insane top end you should have went with a 10turn or 12turn and a much better ESC like an IPC Pro. Or just go brushless.

Those old tamiya connectors are junk in my opinion and should be replaced immediately. I managed to burn on of those up with a 20 turn stinger motor...

well the guy at the LHS said that this 19 turn will hang with 12 turn motors if tuned right...said he has guys running this motor in the mod class at the local track and they are winning just as much as the mod guys are and my esc can only handle a 15 turn, like I said ti wont be driven ALL the time just a "time killer" between rounds

Sounds like the guy at the LHS is full of crap and needed to sell some 19 turn motors to me.

hmmm, sounds like the guy at the LHS needs to learn a few things. I can see maybe that a "properly tuned" 19t could equal a 15t, but a 12t? Sounds like marketing BS to me. But dont let this get you down, you can still have a lot of fun with a 19t, especially with the longer run-times.

actually I came to him with the question :( but i am happy with it
its the trinity cobalt 9teen ...has a pretty blue light on the motor when I am full throttle LOL

How's that Spektrum working out for you? Let me know any tips for tweaking that thing. I followed your lead and bought a 2.0! Luv the pretty GREEN LED...

Don't get me wrong, it's a hig quality motor for sure, but it's just not going to give you the super speed that the LHS guy claims with a high turn count like that. Instead you'll have great mid range and good run times which is really good too.

While it is true, in general, that a 12T will be faster than a 19T..two things no one is mentioning. One is available traction. If you have a low traction surface, then it is entirely possible that the 19 will provide better accelleration, and hence, better control into and out of turns. Second, is the driver. It is also possible that "better" drivers are able to run faster laps with the supposedly slower motor. All in all, your shop guy may be blowin smoke where the sun don't shine...but, it is very possible that he is telling the truth, based on who's driving at his track and available traction.

that guy is full of crap and imho hes ripped u off well and true!
For less than 100 bucks you could have gotten a much more powerfull system going!
Fisrt of all 50 bucks on a Maxamps 4.4K NIMH cells and they are AWSOME cells!
(each cell is guaranteed over 1.21V and yes they are good!)
Then 30 or 40 bucks for a 15 turn Orion SV2 motor...Sv2's r good becaus they are low maintenance whereas the Spec 19 turn motor (which at 60 bucks it damn well better be spec) do need much more maintenance!
I hate it when model shop guys rip people off with that stuff, its conning people!
Best advise i can give to anyone, before you go to the model shop and some guy puts something on the table and says its worth so much and goes so fast, ask the forums! Unless u kno the guy and kno hes a friendly guy you never know what they r sellin!
Oh and btw the part he says if tuned will perform as well as a 12 turn...it wont...will have more torque but never the revs! unless of course hes implying the motor was used with the worlds greatest cells and the 12 turn guy had the worlds worst 12 turn and a half dead pack...
What you have is a spec motor (i think) and for a basher its performance will deteriorate fairly fast.
