Being an Orion guy, I would say go with the Revolution. It has the v2 endbell and brushes, but the checkpoint costs more, which usually means it is a better motor (the more you pay, the better the motor). I have heard that they are both great motors, and the revolution's comm and brushes will last longer due to the v2 design.

oh .. last longer looks cool. (im lazy lol). ... i saw that orion brush is about $3 per pair..but checkpoint's brush is about $8 per pair..

I would go the orion. Awesome motor and haven't heard anything bad about it.
Cheers

i have been using a peak racing raven s with the v2 end bell for a while now. it is a better brush design is my opinion however i have burned up several peak racing and orion comms in offroad applications. i switch over to using the peak can, endbell, and brushes with an EPIC comm; that did the trick for me. higher top speeds and more torque. the brushed also last much longer with the v2 design.

That Orion will probably do 52,992 RPM tops. I don't know about the checkpoint motor, but I'm a big fan of the SV2 design!!

Go with the Checkpoint. It's a great motor and the brush system is more user friendly than the Orion.

I had the 13turn team orion in my 2wd 1/10 buggy before I went brushless. I loved it because it had great speeds but probobly had wear about like a conventional 15turn.

Many brushless motor are coming out. Less maintenance then the brushed. And more expensive, but a good investment.
Brushed motors easy to get, so many manufactures. Reedy, Losi, AE, Trinity, Checkpoint. All have their own specs. Checkpoint I've been runnuig for years. And thy're easier the with mods(timing) is concerned, and part are available. Like the other manufactures.

For brushed motors, I'd say an Orion/Peak Revolution motor. The comms last alot longer than conventional motors which means alot less maintenance.
Or save yourself from all of the brushed motor headaches and go brushless.

IMO the checkpoint is better, the brushes are silver not copper, so the don't burn out they just get shorter, which means you only have to replace your brushes ever 2-3 cuts, and the checkpoint is much easier to work on. as far as performance goes, my banzai checkpoint 12X3 hits around 55k and has plenty of punch, the orion as far as performance of the orion, my buddy says that he has driven both and he can't tell the difference. they are almost identical, but the checkpoint is again IMO a better built motor.

It is honestly more of a personal preference, I would use a team orion if I were brushed again just because I have had good experiences with their motors.

What are you even using the motor for?
Is it for bashing or seriouse racing or what as both those morors are high end racing motors...

The Orions are good motors for bashing. ( anything lower than the SV2 formula BB's)
I just got in from a 5 minute bash session with my new 12T SV2 Formula. wow!

That Orion will probably do 52,992 RPM tops. I don't know about the checkpoint motor, but I'm a big fan of the SV2 design!!Where are you getting your data to speculate that it will go 52,xxx rpm? That would meen it puts out 7K+ rpm per volt. Thats brushless motor teritory. If thats the case and you have hard proof I just wasted $250 on a 4.5 brushless system.

I think Vader was referring to the max RPM numbers in the Orion ad in RCCA.
