View Full Version : HGI Outdrives...or RRP Blue Ultra light Outdrives??
Im thinking of buying some new outdrives for my RC10T3 Factory Team Edition (why doesn't anyone drive this car??) and I wanted to know which pair has better performance and durability. I know the Robinson Racing Units are 40% lighter than the stock units, but they don't last as long as the stock units. How long is not as long? The HGI(Hammad Ghuman) units are said to be ultra durable, but are they lighter than the stock units? Any idea how long they last? I am using a Team Orion Chrome RS motor, so the car outdrives wont be under massive stress.
I want to have good durability, but I also want to have good performance. If I buy the RRP units will they wear away quickly?? Any input will be appreciated!!
Any opinions??? Doesn't anyone uprade essential car parts, not just electronics? Electronics aren't everything...
get the robinson racing ones unless u can get them in graphite

I don't recommend aluminum outdrives in any off-road application. They simply wear out too fast, especially in a truck that sees shock loads in the drivetrain when the wheels leave the ground. Get the MIP lite drives. They're much lighter than the stock outdrives, but they are also steel. I run MIP lite drives in my FTGT powered by an RB X-12 and the MIP lite drives last longer than the stock associated outdrives. As for the aluminum outdrives, they may be a bit lighter than the MIPs but I've seen aluminum outdrives in electric offroad trucks wear out in one day of racing. They simply don't last in an offroad app with the steel crosspins on the driveshafts constantly rubbing on them.

HG and RRP are both made of aluminum but the RRP ones do not have hard anodzing. The HG ones do. They also last longer. But the best bet is to stick to the stock outdrives. I have and FT T3 and aluminum will not last, see if you can find titanium ones. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif
