I've heard alot of talk about the damage that sand does to an RC and keeping that in mind I still would like to run mine down the beach from time to time. What would be the best way to protect my precious stadium truck from being burried in sand?

I've read a few things about getting a plastic bag and putting it arround your whole chassis and tucking it into the gaps between the engine/exhaust etc. But this method seems very "flimsy" seeing as the plastic bag would probably melt to the heatsink and exhaust and cause all sorts of annoying and messy problems...

My idea would be to use a plasic bottle eg a coke bottle and cut it out so that it fits over the top of the centre diff/spur gear/flywheel and brake etc. my front/rear diffs are sealed so they should be fine. Oh and tape the bottom holes in the chassis for the flywheel and slipper clutch etc?

Is there anything special that I'd need to do to stop the damage that sand can cause? (Obviously cleaning and oiling after every run is a must)...

I cant help you keep the sand out all together but i do know that after every run i have with my car i turn it upside down and you see heaps of sand come out. Then i get my air compressor when I'm at home and give it a blow out with that. this has kept my car completely clean and I've never had any problems with sand or dirt. i even do this to my on road cars some times if they are dirty. (I AM AWARE THAT THIS THREAD IS LIKE 5 YEARS OLD)

Old thread or not, someone may still want to know how to make parts last. Back when you had to build kits I did some development while assembling my truck and came up with a few things that addressed the dirt issue quite well. I did a couple of videos using my truck for any prospective buyer so they would know how to service it. You will see the things I did to make parts last and last they do once grit is stopped from getting to certain parts.
