Traxxas ESC

I bought an old tub style RC10 from my freind a while back, and it had a Traxxas esc in it. He stripped the connectors on the esc cause the esc would make the connectors stick to the battery so he cut them off the battery and the esc. One day I charged a battery and plugged it in to the esc. I heard a loud pop sound and then I saw some smoke. A couple of days later I plugged it in again to drive it and it worked fine until I ran into a wall in my basement and I found that it had no reverse! What could have happened to cause this? I know I plugged the wires in correctly because I have the negative wire on the esc wrapped in electrical tape. :confused: :confused:

I had the same problem too, except mine didnt pop or smoke. It will not go in reverse anymore like yours. I have heared that it is just not a good esc. I bought a different one and it works a lot better. :)

I think your talking about the xl-1 right yeah mine went out of reverse too. so i took it apart and one of the fets had melted all the way up the lead. so i asked my electronics shop teacher(im in a tech school) and he said that was the reverse side of the fets where the one had burnt up.
