I was wondering if the Apex Stigma plus is NiMh safe. The Duratrax Intella peak Digital is. It looks like the same charger. I dont want to buy a charger that won't charge the $70 stock metal hydrides im getting.

Thanks!

Awesome charger! I own 2 of them and am looking to get 1 more. I charge my NIMH's at 5amps. I don't charge them fully to 3000 though because the batteries get super HOT HOT HOT! I charge up to 1500, let it cool for awhile(usually an hour under a fan) and then let it charge to full. The Duratrax Intellipeak is pretty much the same charger, just a bit cheaper.

So the charger isn't really NiMh safe?

Does the Apex have the same problem as the Duratrax digital? It can only go up to 1999 then to 1001 mAh?

Sure it's safe! The batteries just get really hot if you charge all 3000 at once :) If you charge them at 3amps, maybe they won't get as hot. Yep, same problem as Duratrax and the Integy 16X2 Pro. Dunno why it does that, I usually watch my batteries anyway, so not really a big problem. Still a great charger for the price.

I have 2000 and 2400 now. It will be a while till I get the 3000's. Have u charged 2000 or 2400's? I have 6 2400's and 3 2000.

Do u have to let the charger cool after ONE charge?

Neight

I've charged 1300's(SPEC Batteries), 1500's, 2000's, 2400's, 3000's and my XR3's battery pack with no probs. I charge my low (1300 to 1500) NiCads at 4amps, the 2000-2400 at 4.5amps and my 3000's at 5amps. I have 9 batteries that I charge between the 2 and I charge them one right after the other. The charger has 2 fans in the back that kick in. Mine have stayed cool the whole time. Get one, you won't be disappointed!

Thanks! Now about the 1999 glitch. Does it mess up the charge? And does the charger stop charging after the pack is fully charged?

THANKS!

Heh, boy you wanna be sure eh? :) If you don't watch the charger, it may mess up your charge. For example, if you turn it on and then just leave it, when you come back you might see 400 on the screen. Is that 400 or 2400? That's the only problem I can see. After it hits 1999, it starts over at 0. So a full charged 3000 pack will show around 1000 on the screen. I've had a few false peaks, but all chargers false peak. The charger goes into trickle mode when the pack is full and will beep. I watch my NIMH's because they don't like to be trickle charged. Hope that answers everything!

your 3000 nimh cells should not get HOT HOT HOT from a 5 amp charge.... i charge all mine at 5.... and they are slightly warm to the touch when fully peaked on a millenium....

if you want an affordable nimh safe charger... you can't go wrong with the intellipeak series from duratrax...

peace out... :)

Yah, I thought the super hotness was a bit strange...so that's why I do it in two charges. Maybe my batts are dying or something :)

Well aren't the Apex and Duratrax the same? They both say "NiHM safe." Look for your self...

Yep Duratrax Intellipeak, Apex Sigma Plus and Integy 16X2 Pro are essentially the same charger with different colours.
