I am looking to get some NiMH batteries for my nitros, and I have a question about AAA batteries...

I have a vulcan SE (1/16 buggy) and it uses 4 AAA batteries... it really only has room for these. Can I just get some walmart AAA rechargeables for this application? ie - will they last for a good bash session or will they dump too soon?
Is there any way I could get 5 cells to fit in place of 4 AAA? ie - is there a cell size smaller than AAA?

There are smaller cells than AAA, like AAAA, but you are best off using just 4 AAA's instead of rewiring and trying to fit smaller cells in. Walmart batteries should work for this, but just make sure you have a charger. If they have a good mah, they should last at least a day of driving.

they may last a decent while but wont have as much "power", as rechargerable batts have a lower "VOLT" then alkaline batteries do. All you can do is try but my opinion would be to just keep on buying energizers, or sell the buggy and buy something that uses a "stick" pack.

Rechargeable's might have a little less power, but when they are fully charged, they will have around 1.5 volts. I would recommend against buying energizers, as the rechargeables will still work, and will save you money and hassle.

Alkalines voltage drops quickly and most of their life is at lower than their advertised 1.5v. Alkaline voltage pretty much is always falling thru their life.

NiMh are rated at a lower value, but after a peak charge typically indicate more their rated 1.2v. I see 1.4v and maybe a little more from mine. NiMhs maintain their voltage for a longer time than alkalines and typically will reach a voltage where they just deliver with little voltage drop until charge is almost gone. Then voltage drops rapidly. You get more time at higher voltage from NiMh that you get from alkalines. More power to servos.

If you have a good charger with a discharger, try discharging both at 0.5amp and watch. I don't buy alkalines for rc any more.

What you really need to look on the batteries is the MAH higher MAh you buy better capacity you get. It is recommended from 500 and up

Plus try to buy NI-MH batteries they are better than NI-CD.

NI-MH has better Capacity and has better Self-discharge

A store on eBay called VAPEXTECH sells 1000 MAH AAA batterys at very reasonable prices, and yea thats the highest capacity your going to get out of a AAA at the moment. (nimh cells)

used them in my MP3 players-they last very long. (and MP3 players are high drain)

Hope this helps.
