Okay, I've been using the ratios and they're just not working. Well, they're working (my B2 kicks but), but some trucks are still just waaaaaaaay faster. I'm racing in a Spec class, so everybody is practically the same, except for servo and GEARING!! I ran 88/18 in my XXXT and was getting SMOKED on the straight aways :/ They also pulled away slightly inside the track. I know most of it is driver skill, but I would like to be at least as fast on the straight aways. Since the heats are only 4 minutes...I can risk running a hot motor. I'm thinking like going to 84/25(8.1 ratio). Is there another good gear combo that will give me some good speed? The fastest guy out there has a black spur on his XXXT, but I'm not sure if it's an 81 or 84. His pinion is also huge...but no one tells anyone else what ratio they're using. So what's a good ratio for overall SPEED? Higher or lower? Man, I need to get a motor dyno. Any help appreciated!

What's your motor?

Trinity's Ex Spec motor, I think it's a 21 turn single.

If you were to lower the spur gear and increase the pinion you will probably increase your top end, however you need to be sure not to lose all your torque. From your other thread it sounds like you have quite a bit of power on the low end so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Okay, I'll try an 86/24 for now...thanks!
