On the long run, Brushless will be cheaper than mod motors. No maintance (com cutting), and faster.

plus brushless have INSTANT torque, while brushed needs to get moving. plus unlimited speed, and no maintenance.

Honestly, if you need the extra speed, a brushless is the only way. Put two good packs in it first, and see what it does, it might be enough as-is...............................for now.

Seeing as you guys seem to know whats doing re: modified v brushless. What should I throw into my TAB4 stealth to get good power to wheels but not bordering on the ridiculous?

novak 4.5R / GTB brushless system. go on tower to find it
Just one thing about that one, he did ask for something that was NOT bordering on the ridiculous, & the 4.5 motor is OUTRAGEOUSLY powerful(& the 3.5 even moreso). I wouldn't reccomend that one to any but the serious racers that can handle that kind of power(& honestly, not many can, no matter what they think). In this case, I'd lean more towards a 6.5 or 7.5, should be plenty strong but not ridiculously so....

Brushless is definetly worth it, just for the lack of maintenance alone. I got tired of having to keep several motors for each car and cleaning them all.

I think its worth it, but at this point would leave the novak and lrp systems alone. yes there great systems but I would go with a mamba max system, it has more to offer and its cheaper than those other systems, plus it is fully programable

Thanks guys, feedback excellent. Just a quick question for Grizzbob, Which engine do you run and in which class?

Well, actually I don't mess much that putting that much power in my cars, though I do have a 6.5 motor with my Novak GTB, but I mainly got it because a friend gave me an excellent deal on it(& the GTB also works VERY well with brushed motors, even better on resistance than the GTX) & for the time being, I'm just using stock class motors. And a big part of the reason for that is that I'm getting ready for the Novak US Touring Car Champs in Milwaukee(Jan 3-7 at S & N's Trackside Hobbies), running in Rubber tire Stock, & at the same time, I'm getting comfortable with a new car(a Tamiya TA05), so I tend to just run what I'm gonna do at the big race for awhile, but later I'll start putting more power in it....

aww come on, the 4.5 isn't that bad (good), but once you got that new rotor, its amazing!

I just run brushless in my 18ths and its been an amazing difference. Stock motors - you use them til they're done and simply replace, so there's not a not of maintenance. But the increase in run time has made it worthwhile all on its own. Went from 10-12min to almost a full 30min. I have yet to replace a BL motor, so def worth it from 18th pov.

I've just started running an Emaxx with the idea to go the same route, but it'll be while yet, want some more experience/time with it then make a more informed decision.
