I found some tenergy 5000mah c size batteries on all-battery.com and I am curious about the compatability of the cell i.e. it fitting in my Evader. The cell is longer by about 6-7 mm than normal sub-c's. If it fits, would this be a good buy? Or should I go with the elite 4500 sub-c's from cheapbatterypacks.com? I am looking for a battery that does not cost to much, and has a high mah. I will measure the car tomorrow and see if they fit. The 5000 mah is tempting. Any input is appreciated.

I would go with a standard size battery - even if the bigger cells fit in the evader, chances are you have (or will have) other models with which it is easier to share batteries if you stick to a standard size. The 11% additional capacity won't make that much of a difference. They'll also take longer to charge. You also want to check out the maximum discharge rate because how many amps these cells can deliver determine the punch your car has and that has a big influence on the fun for many folks :o)
I bought a pair of 8.4V hump packs from Tenergy and they were cheaply put together - you get what you pay for.
If you want really long runtime LiPo is the way to go (or buy several packs of the NiMH or try the LiFePO4 - see http://www.slkelectronics.com/DeWalt/ you can buy them on ebay. ...)
And when you compare the cost, don't forget the shipping cost (and taxes if applicable) ;)

hmm, okay I will stick with the standard size. Now it is a choice between the elite 4500's or the maxamps 4400's. Any suggestions? I am leaning toward the maxamps because I have heard they are good.

Both of those are cheap off-brand cells and wont give good, long lasting performance. Stick with GP, IB ect, if you want good batteries.....

Not true. The maxamp 4.4K's are excellent cells for the money. RCCA reviewed these batteries and had nothing but good to say about them. I've used them and so have a couple of the people at my local track and they work great. I have about 35-40 charges through mine and they still take more than their rated capacity even though I charge them at higher than the recommended rate. For the money you can't beat them IMO.
