hi, the needle that is on the carb barrel should be around 1/16" gap from the spray bar when the carb is fully open ( throttle linkage side) and its for low end rpm, you should have another one on the carb case (other side) or it may be blanked of and you may have to put a remote needle for the fuel mix this should be around 1+1/2 turn out for a starting point, the way that i do it is to blow in to the remote needle or fuel nipple and close it down so that no air comes out then turn the needle out two turns then set the remote to close / open 1/4 of the way for lean and richen the fuel flow. you wont be far of and the pipe length should be around 260/280mm from plug to widest part of the pipe (the weld of the two cones). serface drive props octura 440/445, gear drive 457, fully submerged pmc 2026, strait drive 2024.
hope this helps you.

You may need a remote needle to adjust the fuel flow. The Kalistratov is one of the best around and is sold by Andy Brown at www.cmdracing.com . Run large fuel tubing so that the engine won't starve for fuel and ask for the coarse threaded remote needle. I've used the Aeromarine antenna mount to mount the needle assembly in my boat or you can easily make one from a piece of scrap metal.
