I have some 1800mah Nicad batteries and when I go to charge them the LCD screen on the charger comes up saying 'Battery Voltage to high'. Does this mean the batteries are stuffed?

Was the cell-count properly set in the charger's settings?

It would have to be as only 3 out of the 8 batteries were doing that

hmm...could be a short in the cells? thing is that if cells are stuffed they hold no voltage at all...
happened to me with one of my very old Nicad 1200.s charger wouldnt charge it so i tried Force charging, basically i had another pack which was working and since it was a SXS pack i quickly dabbed the pos n neg of the working pack to each cell in the SXS pack to pump some volts into them, them got it onto the charger and hey presto!
This was with some old packs, i would never do it with any of my good cells but worked and got plenty of use out of the pack!
