My P2K pro timing ring is bent. I got it, and used it, and I never got the comm cut, so I haven't messed with it since I bought a new motor. But I want to use it again. It's only been run enough to need a comm cut. But my timing ring is bent. Is it SUPPOSED to be bent? I don't remember seeing it bent or straight before. If it is not right, can I just buy a new timing ring? Or can I take the timing ring from one of my Speed Gems 2 motors? I think the P2K has a different can design than the speed gems.
It is supposed to be bent.

The timing ring is not supposed to be bent. It bends when you tighten down the screws, holding the endbell, on too tight. A new timing ring can be purchased from your lhs and it comes with two new screws for the endbell.
Good Luck!

as long as it still works, run it. Mine is alittle tweaked but still works great.

This is a big peeve of mine about Trinity stock motors. The rings bend WAY too easily, and it makes it a pain to deal with. It'll work fine as long as you don't bend it too much because it could end up doing more or less than it's supposed to. When you get a new one, be careful to not overtighten the screws and bend it; snug is tight enough.

Ya, the Reedy rings are not as easy to bend.
Under normal tightening the rings will probably not bend. I think they bend from repeated sinching and/or over tightening

DOH!! hehe. Thanks guys. 5 posts in less than 24 hours. That's awesome.
I want to run this thing cuz 4 minutes of running my Rustler with my Garnet and my Topaz gets kinda annoying. It's like I'm out there and then I come right back in. I will have to try it. It is bent pretty bad. The comm needs to be cut anyway, so when I get that done, I'll look for a new ring.

Whats all the fuss about bending the ring? Just flatten it back out & put it back in. All it has to do is hold the end bell on. The little bending that happens is not going to weaken the ring a significant amount. The reason Trinity's bend easy is that they use a flat can which requires the ring to be relieved extensively for it to work properly on the rebuildable motors. Anyway a bent ring has no effect on the motors performance, or dependability. Just my $.02.

put the ring under a wooden board, take a hammer to the top of the board, very simple. I got one free from trinity when i bent it, i said i wasnt mechanical enough to do that.
