I', getting a touring car, & I plan to race, but I need and ESC and motor first. I'm trying to stay under $150 for the ESC. Which speed control is the best bang for the buck?

does the LRP 7.1 have any limits on the motor size/wind? do i need an accesory to program it? thanks!
No, yes. Get the Tekin G-10, Great programming and they got an LED screen and plenty of options. It doesnt require equipment like the V7.1

How does the 7.1 and the Novak TC compare?
Why is the 7.1 better than one that is geared for TC racing?

The best touring car ESC is the novak cyclone TC.

does the cyclone need equipment to program? does it have presets that you don't have to program? how about the LRP?
Is there a certain motor-ESC combo to go for??
thanks a million!

Novak is a great company, if you ever have any trouble with your ESC they fix it cheap and fast. The LRP 7.1 doesn't NEED any special equipment to use it. You CAN use a pc if you want, but don't have to. I run a Novak Tempest Pro, an LRP Indy 200 and an LRP 7.1. I can tell little difference between the Tempest Pro (which is a couple years old) and the 7.1 .

The Cyclone TC has three profiles built in that can be selected using it's one touch button. If you want or need more adjustment the Pit Wizard hand held programing device is just the ticket, it lets you alter 10 different parameters making it perfect for any track or conditions. If you wan't more info check out the Team Novak website everything is there. I would not trade me Cyclone for a box of other ESCs.
I think the 7.1 is definitely the better choice - it has a current limiter which the Novak doesnt have and which can really help on a slippery track or when your bats just donīt hold for five (europe) minutes. I donīt really appreciate features like adjustable minimum drive or minimum brake - this just doesnt seem to help me much.
The only advantage that the Novak has are the solder posts . So if you are going to move your esc alot you might consider the Cyclone.

Hey everybody thanks for all the input!
I think I'm gonna go with the LRP.
It's only about $20 more, and i wouldn't have to buy a pit wizard to tweak it if needed.
Just one more question...
Is the 7.1 geared more toward mod cars??
I'm probably only gonna race stock, but
I'll get the 7.1 (for poss.upgrades)
instead of the IPC SR if it works just
as well with a stock motor. thanks a million!
