View Full Version : question on peak charging
I don't have a peak charger, but I read somewhere that you could use a voltmeter to peak a battery. My question is: I hook the meter to the charger outputs, and monitor the voltage. When it stops climbing, the battery is peaked. Is that correct?

When it starts to fall slightly. About .3 volts or so. And without the actual peak charger you can cut out what would be a false peak so when the voltage starts to go down feel the pack to make sure its slightly warm.

gubbs is right, charge until the the voltage begins to drop and the packs are warm, not hot. Just remember that NiCD's will often drop voltage a little during charging before they are peaked.
