Hello out there, I've been in & out of RC for about 10 years. Many years ago I purchased a Tekin BC100L Peak Charger. At the time it was supposed to be a pretty good charger & It still works pretty well. I have recently been getting back into the hobby & have thought about whether I should upgrade to a newer charger that will handle NIMH 3000 Batteries. Does anyone know anything about my current charger & whether or not it will handle NIMH. I have scoured the Tekin website & can't even find an e-mail address to send them a question about this. I will just keep this charger if I can charge NIMH with it. Thanks for any posts. RP

Your Tekin will be able to charge MH batteries, but you will have to monitor them and remove them from charge when they get warm. MH batteries don't have a voltage drop when they get to full charge like NiCd's do (the "peak"), so you can't start a charge and then walk away. The batteries won't peak, so the charger will just keep on pumpin'. I'm not sure how NiMH chargers detect a full charge, but check out the R/C Battery Clinic (http://gnv.fdt.net/~redscho/) - there's heaps of info there about NiCd's and MH batteries.
