 Let's see some ramps, I am always looking for new ideas. Here is my latest, although it is a little heavy, it gets the job done.

That ramp looks like it will do the job for sure.
But the best ramps are built from dirt :D

But I also like those plastic bike ramps. You can actually catch alot of air from them.

Here's my Parts Killer 3000 that I built this past summer. No, I haven't jumped it at the highest setting. Yes, I know those posts can get in the way but remember... It's a Parts Killer ;).

No action shots, but here is my home-made ramp. It's set pretty high there, but it can go from almost flat, to steeper than it is in the picture.

Here are some pics of an aluminum ramp that I welded. I use it to bash my Savage...
It's about 3ft. high at the lip.

Woah, Isn't that a little overkill? I know nitro cars are basically powered by roscket fuel but do you realy wana send them into orbit?
I can see the next big thing, Freestyle RC. It's like freestyle MX but with RC cars...

I was actually practicing that yesterday! I built a table top ramp with one side wall..I was tapping the side wall with my front tire ad practicing doing different flips. It's really fun!

we used to freestyle al lthe time....stampede is great for it, case the backside of a nice bermed corner, you can shoot almost straight up,, turn hard right, and lay the truck on its side, then back hard left, touch of throttle, and it will level back out ! will try and shoot vid of it..

I've done my share of freestyle stuff also. Wall rides, all sorts of flips, Corkscrews and whatnot. Fun stuff.

Here is one I made out of aluminum for my son's e-maxx last year. I wanted to start him off on something small until he got the hang of it.

Being an engineer in training i can tell something like that is not as simple as it looks to build...and yea those are some damn sweet lookin welds! You do taht on TIG?

I didn't know you could do such a thing as freestyle RC'ing... I just thought that after you leave the ramp it's just a matter of hoping that your car is ok... but apparently there sees to be some control over how you land and flip?
4DMNYC
12-03-2006, 07:36 PM
Alot of the time you have to finess the throttle to stick the landing. But once you get the hang of it, there's alot of fun tricks you can do.

Yeah, definitely. Throttle makes a HUGE difference on how your car rotates forward or backward. Braking will make your car nosedive where pulling full throttle will typically rotate you backwards. With a 4WD car there are even more options. Steering changes the angle of the gyro effect and you can do crazy wobbley stuff. One thing I've been doing is cranking my steering right at the lip of the jump and doing spins in the air (I haven't gotten a full 360 quite yet). But as I mentioned, I added a side wall to my table top and you can do super cool stuff with it. The coolest thing I've done so far was a full horizontal AND vertical 360 combined and stuck the landing.. though that was like a freak accident and I couldn't replicate it completely. Anyway, yeah it's fun. There's a video of a guy with a stock rustler who was doing like little flips and spins around the base of a tree. It wasn't amazing freestyle, but it was still pretty cool. It takes practice and typically a lot of money in broken parts to actually know how to do it well :) but it definitely comes in hand racing some times. When your car does something really unexpected you can often correct it in the air if you have a good response time. Anyway. Yes. I'll see you guys later.

Ya, that was with a tig. I am a certified welder, so it is a good thing I enjoy to weld so much. I pieced it together with some scrap we had laying around the shop. I didn't want to make it to nice, because all we were going to do is bash it.

I just built a sort of ramp fun box in my yard so i thought of reviving this Thread...
I built it in 25 minutes so its not made that well but does its job excellently, and its strong enough for me to stand on it too... so..
Here are some pics;:
