I ran it alittle while ago. Everything went as planned and I got some awesome shots. But i was cut short due to my tranny suddenly not giving any power to the wheels. Im gonna pull it apart right now and see if I find anything. At least these pics make me happy!! I very suprisingly didnt get stuck very much except for one of the mud holes. So much for not running it hard. Enjoy:

No, the High Lift is just that small. It almost seems 12th scale. Cool pics though. Let us know how the axles held up to the water.

Those are some great pics, and you managed to keep the body spotless! Let us know what went wrong and how the axles held up.

One of the gears in the transfer case is what happened. The setscrew came out so I just threadlocked it back in and all is fine.

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j98/jamesbernatchez/Tamiya%20F-350/DSCN4318.jpg

Here is what it looked like while taking it apart...just to get to the tranny:

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j98/jamesbernatchez/Tamiya%20F-350/DSCN4320.jpg

Its back together and running great. When I got home I removed the wheels/tires and sprayed the axles with a hose using light pressure. Then used my compressor to blow it all off. It looks good as new! Axles work fine. I removed the plug in the axle and didnt notice any water at all, but I didnt check that hard

Now im just waiting for my head/tail lights to come. Picture the second waterfall pic at night with the head and taillights(maybe the light bar too if I can find a set of 5 leds prewired) on and shimmering on the water  It will be done once I get the lights :D But I will be using my buddys DSLR(either his 30D or 10D) to get the best shot in low light.

Nice pics James, you should be a profesional photographer. One question, how can you drive and take pics at the same time?

Thanks guys :D As far as driving and taking pics....only a few were done that way. Most of them were taken while the truck was sitting in one spot. I DID drive the truck to where the pics was taken though, no carrying it anywhere.

Heres another fun fact :)

Here is my truck flexing after 10 minutes of running offroad with the stock soft suspension:

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j98/jamesbernatchez/Tamiya%20F-350/DSCN4328.jpg

And here it is after about a half hour of running and after tapering the leaf eyelets:

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j98/jamesbernatchez/Tamiya%20F-350/DSCN4326.jpg
http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j98/jamesbernatchez/Tamiya%20F-350/DSCN4336.jpg

I gained about another 1"- 1 1/4" of flex which is not too bad!

This is what I did to the eyelets:

this is soo sweet, ur skills with the car and cam are amazing. how long would u say it took to build

jamesbernatchez
11-19-2006, 11:39 PM
I built it in two nights. But all the custom work took a total of around 15-20 hours. And painting took another couple of days.

I don't know much about rock crawlers, but I seem to recall the 1:1 guys put a shackle that can twist on the leaf springs... allows for that big articulation.

Very cool truck. How's it handle at speed?

My truck is more for trails, so I dont need insane flex...as you can see its actually not that bad. Top speed is around 9mph and it handles fine. I have yet to roll it on pavement but thats probably because I dont want to ruin the body :p

It has great torque and suprised me with the incline it was able to climb.

Some nice pictures for sure! Some time from now, when this truck has been discontinued, people will see these pictures and think "how in the heck did he do that to something so rare!" Lol...

Thanks for sharing!

That looks absolutely fantastic. The flat paint route turned out very well, better than I anticipated. The little scale additions make it look just that much better.

Thanks man :)

I just did the lights with sharpie. For some reason they look like they suck in the pictures :( But they actually came out really good. Im going to take the rears off the body and do them again. But the fronts look good. For some reason one front looks darker than the other but that is just the lighting in my room.

 Nice action shots, that truck is seriously awesome. Every time I look at it, it makes me want one more and more. Although it would never come out half as good as yours did. You must be a very patient guy.

Looks awesome

So...... here is what I got in the mail today:

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j98/jamesbernatchez/Tamiya%20F-350/DSCN4415.jpg
http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j98/jamesbernatchez/Tamiya%20F-350/DSCN4419.jpg

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j98/jamesbernatchez/Tamiya%20F-350/DSCN4428.jpg

They are actually very bright. I went off roading in the woods in the pitch black. They lit up what was ahead fine. Before I knew it I was pretty far and had to turn around cause I was scared of coyotes eating me.

Then this came......woo hoo the second high lift! Awesome!

I think I like them:

Or maybe I really dont:

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j98/jamesbernatchez/Tamiya%20F-350/DSCN4444.jpg

LOL!!! Here is a small vid I made with my crappy digi-cam of me turning on the lights. I have a small vid of it outside but its really hard to make anything out. I will have really good video when I borrow my buddies Mini DV cam.
