I bought a team associated rtr t-4, because I wanted to get something that would help me learn the ins and outs of off road race trucks, and to race also. I have never in my life seen such a waste of money as the t-4. When I first got the truck, I opened it up, and found that the shock oil from the left rear shock had seeped out all over the box, because the shock was not built correctly at the factory. I got some parts from my local R/C store to fix the problem. Then I took it out on the track behind the store, and ran it for about 2 minutes. It flipped over, and snapped off the rear body mounts. I took it home, and fixed the problem by Velcro'ing the body to the chassis. I took it out to a friends indoor oval track, and snapped the right turnbuckle in two. the funny part is that I didn't hit anything, it just snapped. The owner had a used replacement to borrow until the new one showed up. It also snapped. I finally got the new one, fixed the problem, and took it out to the track.... The steering servo strips out. I take it home, and replace the servo with a metal gear servo. I take it out back, turn on the radio, and the ESC starts acting screwy, running in reverse. I e-mail associated, and they tell me the speed control is bad, and if I send it to them, they'll repair it, and then let me know what it cost to fix.... Even though the car is only 2 weeks old! So instead, I went out and bought a Team Losi XXX-T Brushless RTR, and told associated what I thought of their t-4. So far the, I have had no problems with the XXX-T at all, and it runs like a bat out of Haties! Has anyone else had this much trouble out of associated?

P.S. I finally received the promised shock rebuild kit a week after I bought the XXX-T.... Go figure?

Boy did you get a lemon!!!

Sorry you had trouble with your T4. I've had a B4 for half a year and haven't had nearly as much trouble. And the problems I had were self-inflicted! :D

Same here. I have a FT T4 and the only broken parts I've had were no one's fault but my own, except when that wall jumped out in front of my truck. I hate it when that happens. :D

Maybe your RTR was a late Friday or a first thing Monday build.

I currently have 5 Associated cars, and one Losi.

I like the Associated stuff, and like most of the others that have posted here, have not had a problem with anything that wasn't opperator error.

R/C's are just like our full scale vehicles... They're all junk when they're broke or don't run right. I personally would never own a General Motors product, but that's just me.

Everyone is entitled to their own opnion I guess.

:teacher: Every kit I'v seen has been top quality, and every other owner I know think highly of their AE product. Seems to me that you got one of those rare factory defective trucks. From the moment I had a problem I would have contacted the maker especally on such a new RC. AE has pretty good customer service from what I hear and they have been around a long time. Next time I hope you'll give them the opertunity to correct those faults which are theirs.

I have a T4 and have beat the crap out of it and the only thing I've ever broken is a couple of arms. It's just about the toughest truck I've ever had.

i really hope you don;t hold a grudge against associated for this (although I wouldn't blame you if you did) b/c i have never heard of such a lack of quality from ae, they are usually top notch, I have yet to be dissapointed at all with ANY of their products. well thats my speil, hope you have better luck in the future.

I have been using my associated TC3 for about 2 years now...and frankly i swear by their products!
This car is 6 years old by design (almost 7) and with basic modding (moving cells closer to centre)...i can keep up ith the most modern cars at my track...my car is pretty much indestructable aswell!

Associated are an amazing company and the quality of their models has never been below excellent (for me anywhay). im just telling you since i dont think you shoud be put off completely from buying their products...

That is unlucky though i will admit and i would be peeved to say the least had it been me, but if i was you i would get the whole thing replaced as soon as i saw the shock damage.

I don't know.... Like I said, the truck was 2 weeks old. I ran it for maybe 2 hours worth of run time.... I contacted ae when I found the shock was bad, and I didn't receive a rebuild kit for it for 3 months. The only thing I did to it was roll it over, and the first time I did, the rear body mounts snapped off. My friend who works as a manager at the R/C store couldn't believe how bad the truck was.

Sounds like a fluke. I've owned a lot of AE vehicles starting with the original RC10, and I haven't had bad luck with any of them. I've owned at least one: GT, RC10, B3, T3, B4, T4, TC3, NTC3, TC4, FT TC4, FT T4. I've broken stuff racing, but never just driving along. AE is a top company. I think your truck has to be some kind of fluke.

I ditched ae and went with Team Losi. I picked up the new XXX-T Brushless, and it runs like a champ. I've had no problems whatsoever, so I plan to stick with them.

how did you break a rear mount with the body on?ive never seen a t4 with problems like a lot of them.i have raced a b4 for 2 years and havnt broken anything yet, i havnt even changed the o rings in the shock as they havnt leaked.
the t4 is the main truck at our track and they are pretty much the domoinent truck.and parts are easy to get, depending on how good you hobby shop is and on that note, you should have taken it back to the hobby shop as soon as you seen the shock oil and got them to replace the kit with a new one.
