I've seen ads for autobailers on funrcboats.com. Do you think these are worth installing? I've also heard of putting a tampon (no really) in the bottom of the boat?

tampons work wonders in electric boats. saved my butt a few times.

now if your running a larger gas boat or even mono. or nitro then yes. yes yes.

they are a great addition. alot of times if you spin out. and a bunch of water comes in on a nitro boat. you can usually save it. by hitting the throttle assuming its still running. and all the water will flow out through the hole. as you drive along. it doesnt take long espically if you have two.. now. if you didnt have them .. your boat would log around and probably stall..

There are those of us that call them (auto sinkers) if they don't seal rite they can also let water in if boat stalls.

Any good installation tips to keep them from being a "sinker"?

What do you mean by flotation?

some foam in the boat will help with keeping it afloat if it flips, or is damaged....or if you have a leaky autobailer(been there, done that)! personally i think they are just a fancy hole :D you won't want to install one on an electric boat, if you do a good job of water proofing, water will not be an issue.
